I'm able to point you to the source of everything I've posted in this thread. I'll gladly admit I'm wrong if you can point me to the source of your evidence for this.
Jay - the notice period point you make is incorrect. I was with a firm with a 12 month notice period and a 6 month non- compete. I had a 12 month garden leave after taking legal advice. If you are willing to sign the contract in the first place then you can expect to be bound by the terms. There is a legal challenge of restraint of trade and that is what my lawyer used to negotiate the period to 12 months. On the other hand I totally agree with your views on our new head coach.
Not that bothered to be honest. Ive read what Ive read and Im not going searching for it again just to prove a point. Youve got your view and Ive got mine.
I don't know Jay so I've no idea. I do know though that many Barnsley fans have already criticised the appointments and seem to form opinions before even seeing anyone in action. Do you think thats fair?
Thing is I don’t think anyone is saying they’re ****, nobody knows that, but surely people can question the (on the face of it anyway) lack of experience at a level comparable with the level we are at. Either coaching or playing, our new back room team don’t seem to have any of it. Like I said in an earlier post, if people have the competency then that will show up in the next few weeks, I just find it an odd back room set up on paper.
Opinions is what this board is about. There is a core of naturally pessimists who criticise the club for everything they do ,I think theres a majority who will just wait and see how things pan out.In fairness the fans of Huddersfield and Norwich had concerns when they employed German managers who had no first team experience at all.I'm looking forward tom the journey.
You’re right, we can only speculate as to why he got the job. He may be the best coach we’ve ever had. I’m looking forward to finding out!
I don't think I'm one of those natural pessimists you talk about. In fact, I'd like to think I'm the opposite. That said, I have concerns when you look at the lack of experience of coaching or playing at a similar level and the reported language issues with the coach. There looks to be a LOT of risk in these appointments to me. Hopefully, my concern is unfounded and they are world beaters but I'm afraid the blind faith was lost with the Morias appointment where it seems they bought into a good salesman's patter. Hoping this isn't a similar situation. Let's see what the next few months bring.
Pressing is not a new style of play but I think the point is that we are opting for this more modern counter press type thing that has been adopted by a lot of Germans over recent season such as Wagner and Klopp etc. Having seen the way Liverpool have played this season if we can emulate that in some way then we should be in for a very good season as they play some great stuff and are brilliant to watch. You are right with saying it is a big risk as this is not something anyone expected and hopefully it pays off. Just got to wait and see what happens. Hopefully he gets backed and gets a good say in who comes in as we may need a few players to come in that have operated in a side that already play this sort of style.
The info came from an interview with Stendel in May this year (link to English translation below). I'd posted this on some of the earlier threads regarding him, but they're currently buried on page 5 of the board: https://translate.google.com/transl...,15700149,15700168,15700186,15700190,15700201
