Hourihane was identified by the analytics spreadsheet. Not by Danny Wilson. The poster boy for this conclusion? The fact Danny Wilson did not sign Josh Scowen
Yids was signed by Hecky. Ugbo was signed by Hecky (and convinced by Hecky to sign ahead of going to Leeds) Mallan was signed by Hecky. McBurnie was demanded by Hecky and eventually signed. There isn't someone in the shadows signings players. There's obviously recommendations, but even Hecky got himself tongue tied in the media jumping from statements about having no involvement to being solely responsible. I would guess it falls somewhere in the middle, but like everyone else I'm only guessing.
Yes, was just a comment. I'm very much in the positive camp. You have to be. All I'm saying I suppose is I'd have opened up a bit on the past.
A great point - the model does work elsewhere - but as you say, its never made clear to us who is in charge of what and who has input when and how, which just leads to speculation and counter-speculation. If there is clear lines of responsibility - and lets face it there should be - then the club should tell us how it works.
I would have liked something in the update regarding why they didn’t think Hammill warranted a contract!
So why has no other clubs gone in for him in the last18 months then? It's another massive gamble to be fair.
I agree. It's a gamble. I haven't said it isn't. I'm simply more optimistic than when we appointed Morais.
Maybe clubs did and he didn't fancy it? It is a huge gamble though in all honesty but I did also read that during the last 12 months he has done an advanced coaching course as well as spending some time with Arsenal (as he his great mates with Per Mertesacker) and also spent time with Brondby as well. Not sure as to what he has done while there as of course he was never employed by those clubs, but it seems like from that report anyway that he has spent the last 12-18 months doing some further coaching and learning to improve his own skills which may be why he has not been employed. I do feel its a huge risk but I am ultimately optimistic that it could be good.
He's still on hannovers books which don't make much sense to me either if he's not had much involvement in team affairs. In hindsight we may as well have nipped in first for graham potter in February.
We did try, but he wasn't interested. Swansea and Ostersund have very close links, and he probably figured he'd get that job eventually.
