I have walked from the Courthouse to and from all our matches last season, and didn't see any trouble at all. The number of police utilised however was way over that necessary.

They can save a bit of money by sacking the Barnsley loving football officer Naz.

The extra policing of the town centre on match days will be included in the £284,289 figure. However, clubs only pay for policing in the stadium vicinity, hence the one-third contribution.

Saw a fight outside of the courthouse after the Millwall game last season. Not much else springs to mind I agree.

The behaviour of many preston fans in the town centre a couple of years ago (the game which was designated their main away day, bowler hats etc) wasn't great and there was trouble against bolton last season, trouble that would have been significant without a police presence.

    Fair enough.

I saw no trouble with Preston. I am guessing you were not in the train station before Millwall at home last season. Until you see both, it is hard to judge.

I tend to avoid the train station on matchdays.

Too many idiots in uniform posturing for confrontation.

If SYP got their way, everyone would watch the match from a concrete box on TV and anyone who broke silence would be pepper sprayed. Easily the worst Police Force in the country.

The only time in as long as I can remember when police have been called to the No 7 was when we were playing Preston and their fans were causing bother.

I certainly think police numbers at the local derbies this year was OTT.
I do think we have more than our fair share of idiots, but I'm not sure that police treatment of your average fan, is acceptable.
Herding people about and treating people like animals tends to lead to aggression.
I can't see anything much changing sadly.

    Couldnt' agree more.

6,000 full price season tickets at for easy numbers £300 each with 20% VAT.

£300,000 in VAT alone on the season tickets.

Players wage bill must be in the region of a few million - with about half that being taxes and national insurance.

Without public services providing the infrastructure for these events to happen - the taxes raised from these events dont' get raised.

    Bill paid feckers.

Okay. Looks like I was incorrect, and I hold my hands up: my examples of Bolton/Preston were bad ones. Apologies.

Wasn't having a go mate. I never thought they had a reputation for bad behaviour until that day.
