Hecky may not have specified a ball winning midfielder or alternatively he may have wanted a loanee of a higher quality than we could afford in this position eg. Matty James, Pearson, moray, gardener, Williams etc or even scowen on more money

Clear as far as it goes but when GG says "we" identify targets through data who exactly is the "we"? Which individuals at the club?

We could afford quality if we didn't waste money on 5 attacking midfielders of who 2 have been loaned out and 2 haven't had a look in. Ironically the one that did contribute a little bit was already at the club.

This sounds eminently reasonable. I can't quite square it with how things were done last summer, but if it's how things will be going forward then that's great.

Whatever system we use we need to do better than the last 3 Windows.

Any manager signs a few flops.
The use of statistical analysis is all well and good, but attitudes of players need looking at too. It sounds like the new manager is very keen on fitness, which was our big failing last season.

Lots of sense being spoken here.
Although some duffers like pontyender thinks that the head coach is not even listened to at the start of the process.

Stendel - we need a right winger.
    Ganaye - ok
Stendel - there’s a player I know that fits the bill exactly.
    Ganaye - foook off

Nothing I don't think we didn't know.......the surprise is that we supposedly started this process before the end of the season depending on which division we were in so how did Stendel input at the start of that. Also the stats that were fed in last time resulted in us signing 5 or 6 midfield players all of the same type and none which fit the system the head coach wanted to play....so he ended up trying to get the players to fit the system. Hopefully some lessons have been learned.....we shall see.

GG has explained how recruitment works and someone still can't resist putting their own tweak on it. No-one is going to "go on the list" if their data doesn't stack up.

Given that Stendel will be heavily involved in setting the profile for the positions he wants to recruit I'd imagine that anyone he specifically wants will fit that profile.
However, that wasn't the point of my post.

We will see this summer players leave that are not fit enough, that can't play the high intensity pressing game and that are not quick enough for counter attacking football. They will identify and bring in players that can, are young enough to gain value and will fit in with the rest of the squad. We have brought in a coach and team that will implement this way and as it stands we have no evidence to suggest otherwise that we won't. We as fans have a lot to look forward to and be cautiously excited about.

Question is will the fans and board allow the time needed for the right players to be recruited and for the team to gel, given automatic promotion is the stated aim. I, for one doubt it.....it won't be me calling for his head but it is a results business and you can't build a team overnight, especially one which requires a type of player we don't have to play the style demanded
