I think the issue wasn't just we signed so many players of the same type, but also at an early phase of their development.

I'll be surprised (pleasantly) if we challenge this year. We're introducing a new style, with players that couldn't make it work under heckingbottom, and, many haven't developed as much as we'd hoped because of too much competition, chopping and changing, and just a basic lack of games.

Moncur has been here 2 years and only started 33 (granted he went out on loan), and Mowatt and McGeehan have had the same issue, and much less games.

Plus, despite what has been said, I still think we'll have a high turnover of players, and that will take time to bed in.

I'm quite impressed they managed to get a photograph of him in first team action for the article.

Doesn’t help relegation though or the product on the pitch.

We have seen the Knasmullner effect. Lets see if the approach develops this season but it appears the plans rigidity to young players only is being stuck to.

Wages, hotel/plane travel to scout him, signing on fee, whatever we paid his agent, any treatment we've gave him whilst with us. Maybe we've sold him for more than we paid for hi,. But if every cost related to him was added up, I would be surprised if we made a profit too.

Think you’ll find if any club costed up all costs attributed to a player it would be nigh on impossible for any player to be traded for a profit. Exceptions would be people like John Stones

Yeah, I miss the days when we'd pay a seven figure transfer fee for a player (Hristov, Sheron), then let them leave for nothing(!):D
Making a transfer fee profit on a player after five months at the club? Boo, Barnsley, boo(!) That's not how we do things(!):D

Key for me is whether or (probably not) the new coach will want to play wingers. He has said that he will apply the same basic system at all levels through from first team to development squads. I would think that Hedges and Isgrove would be good in a midfield three, or five, even if wingers are to be ditched. This would also explain the moving on of Hammill, but I think that was going to happen anyhow. As it stands now, the squad is very strong for League One, but will need to be motivated, organised, disciplined by the new regime and pdq. I could see Bradshaw moving on to stay in the Championship for a goodish fee and, maybe Lindsay as well, if offers come in from Championship clubs. That would allow us to replace, but, otherwise, the squad looks pretty good as it is. Just needs to Stendel x-factor to get it going.

Add to that bill the cost of having to watch the useless knacker shuffle around the Riverside Stadium in an unfathomable Jose formation and I reckon whether we made a profit or not we are well rid.

At the time we were gagging for a midfielder. Instead we signed a player who contributed 30 minutes and got relegated.

    What’s not to like?

    Everything
We were in a desperate situation
We needed players who were ready to play.
Consistent, boring maybe but could be relied upon to do a job.
    We bought knasmullner
Who contributed nothing to our season
We lost a huge a amount of net money because of it and will continue to lose money because of this for years , depending how long we stay in this division we are in and and how long it takes to get back up
maybe we may drop further down
It’s called trying to be clever.
Some will say we got exactly what we deserved

He will quite rightly join the Phil Gridelet legends suite as a platinum member.

Thanks for the memories Christoph, you won't be forgotten.
