Only one metaphor really - I'm not goimg to count the jigsaw one. So in a nutshell you're not willing to confirm where we were in the table when Johnno jumped ship.
Well Mr Barbarian, he did take us on that run of wins up to 6th place, with 9 games left, towards the end of 2015-16. Im not exactly a fan of LeeJay, but I can also see the idea that he started a promotion and cup winning squad, that Hecky took control of.
We were 12th, 8 points off the playoffs with one or two games in hand on everyone above us apart from Bradford who had played the same amount of matches. We'd just won 6 on the spin in the league scoring 17 goals and got to the final of the paint trophy. We'd only lost one match since 24th November, home to Wigan.
Lee Johnson definitely got the team going. I was one who thought he should be sacked when we lost god knows how many on the spin. But he turned it around, got the players to fully understand what was expected of them, and set us up for promotion. Hecky saw us over the line. Both deserve credit for that promotion season in my eyes. The football LJ had us playing before he left was brilliant. We were on fire.
I know some Norwich fans, as I used to live there. I told them when they signed Marley that, while he was no Ronaldo, he would graft 100% for every minute of every game and wouldn't give up. At the time they seemed to think that this was what they were lacking and they were right. half the squad were just too laid back and it showed in the performances. When they had another duff season last season they needed scapegoats and Marley seemed to become one of those. I think that they changed team shape and he just didn't fit, nor did his strengths get fully used. it is a win-win both for Norwich and for Marley. I hope he does well there, because he was pretty much a hero with us. Never gave up and scored/made some crucial goals at crucial times in games.
I'll tell you what happened- we went on a nine match winless run and finished mid table. We carried that form on and six months later we were bottom of the league and got knocked out of the cup by a team who finished bittom of the conference. Reight manager.
The team he had was built from League 2 players and kids on loan. He eventually managed to get them playing how he wanted, and we were flying. He won every game in January. You can harp on about the past, or when the team weren’t very good. Personally think his most recent form is the most pertinent to judging where we were when he left. And he left us with a team of very good players, winning football matches, and every lad knew his role and what he was expected. Some of those players he developed now have gone on for millions of pounds. However I do appreciate you and Tyrone feel differently.
So when a manager takes over a team in 12th place, eight points outside of play offs with a less than a third of the season to go, do you not think its a bit of a stretch to say "he had to get us over the line"? Regardless of current form.
Did you not see the bit I said I think they both deserve credit for our promotion? He had a job to build a team capable of getting us promoted. Winning every game in January built that momentum. Hecky won the two games in hand and made up the extra 2 points needed to get us into the playoffs. Glad you and Tyrone are back posting though. My two favourites.
I was half considering trying to have a reasonable conversation with you but just in time I remembered what a snide you are. I look forward to the "like".
Oooh sensitive sally today. Was just about to bring up January 2017 as well to let you really combust. I like Tyrone and Your rambles. What’s snide about that? You two and Nudger are my favourite posters to read on this board.
