I find them trite. They're experts in stating the bleeding obvious. Some of the nonsense Phil Neville comes out with is reminiscent of the "bomb alley" new-age football speak that Jonno got mocked for. It's not necessarily that they're wrong, it's just that they add nothing. If you compare it with the NFL coverage, Osi Umenyiora and Jason Bell are much more entertaining and add far more value, and are prompted and encouraged to do so by Mark Chapman, who is the best BBC presenter in my opinion. It's notable that Chapman is an actual journalist, and I think the BBC need to go back in that direction. John Motson, Barry Davies and Des Lynam never played football but were far more enjoyable to listen to and watch because of their skills as journalists.

As a fan myself I enjoy the Nfl presentation with Chappers, and Osi & Bell, they make it enjoyable to listen to. Its a shame they don't do English footy because they would really liven up Motd. :)

    Two quotes from ITV commentary:

"They are so deep, they are wearing scuba diving masks" & "we have seen the hand of God, could we have seen the hand of cod".

FFS, you get better journalism in the Star.

The BBC is the only broadcaster showing games in UHD (which is slightly different but technically similar to 4K) – however you’ll need to be speedy to get the pixel boost. All 29 of BBC One’s World Cup matches will be available in Ultra HD and HDR on BBC iPlayer. When a match is about to kick-off, head to the iPlayer app on your connected TV and look for the UHD stream option.

There will only be a limited number of spaces available – the BBC says “tens of thousands” – for each game. You’ll need a 40Mbit/s connection for the full 3,840 pixel Ultra HD stream and those on 20Mbit/s connections will be shown a 2,560 pixel stream. All footage will be in 50 frames per second. Both streams will be in HDR. Click here for a full list of compatible TVs.

ITV won’t be broadcasting any matches in UHD. And the BBC’s UHD trial is only available through the iPlayer app on compatible connected TVs, so anyone trying to tune in through Chromecast or a Sky, Virgin or BT TV box will only be able to watch matches in standard or high definition unless they have access to the iPlayer app through their TV box.

They have been waiting for Iceland to save a penalty for years so they could use the hand of cod line.

Its also stored in reserve in case Grimsby get a televised cup game that goes to penalties.

I don't mind the ITV coverage as I rate Gary Neville as a pundit although Roy Keane's death stares and total lack of warmth are irritating.

Whilst the BBC's production is undoubtedly more slick, I do find the panel a bit smug. It has to be said though that Shearer is getting better.
