Apparently Sugars attempted "humorous" tweet about the resourcefulness of the Senegal World Cup team, has prompted Paddy Power to quote evens that he will be removed from the BBC show The Apprentice. He's the first to complain if anyone says anything remotely anti Semitic , so I fail to see why he thinks his remarks can be seen as amusing. https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/t...eet-The-Apprentice-Senegal-racist-news-latest
Last I heard, he'd already stepped down from The Apprentice and there might not be another series anyway. That was 2-3 months ago...
I don't particularly watch it to be honest, I just don't like the way he conducts himself. There's no argument how he's made that programme a success but you can tell he's mates with Piers Morgan. Obviously a very bright **** end.
The bloke is an annoying lovely person. He was a decent entrepreneur back in the day, but now he'd be better represented as a glove puppet, manipulated by someone with learning difficulties.
I disagree. I think that the producers and creators of the show have made it a success. Alan sugar is nothing but a cast member who gets a lot of free advertising for his companies.
It was just an attempt at humour, a poor one but still an attempt at humour. He's not racist. I'm of the generation that no longer says things I once used to say openly and even I thought it was a crap joke but some of the reaction to it is, as usual, way over the top.
It's the kind of thing one of your mates would say in the boozer after a couple and nobody would bat an eyelid. My wife is black, and found no offense in it whatsoever. It's just a crap joke. Still can't stand him though.
Can we get the STFU/dislike buttons back? I get - and agree - that it's generally better to discuss things, but this kind of nonsense isn't even worth engaging with.
I guess it's a generational thing. I can guarantee that none of my mates would say something like that, and if I overheard it in my bar I'd be having a quiet word at the very least.
People from outside the UK always imitate us with that daft, posh accent, as though we're all royalty. Shouldn't that be classed as racist as well then? It's was a joke, a crap joke, but a joke never the less
I don’t disagree to a point. Sugar however has however been banging on about racism. If you do that you have to be very circumspect or people will think you are a hypocrite.
I think you also have to look at someone's history and character when judging and sugar has previously made homophobic tweets, sexiest tweets, tweets abusing fat people and now racist tweets
It was certainly a foolish thing to tweet even if meant as a joke. I certainly think hypocrisy is a more credible accusation than racism.
Never was an attempt at humour because if that's humour my pr1ks a blota he's a rich man and rich men think they can say just what they want and if it is taken the wrong way by media they just say its was an attempt at humour, anyone thinking it was humour wants a reality check
To be fair to him, IIRC his fees do go to charity and he has donated quite a lot of money through the show - Great Ormond Street (and other causes) has got a lot of money
You seem to have an issue with his wealth which I don't believe has anything whatsoever to do with his tweet. Not all rich people are the same, just like any other section of society. Anyone who thinks they are, are the ones who need a reality check.
