    4 year deal. £105 million

Wonder how much it'll generate in shirt sales?

It'll be interesting to see whether he keep his pace as that's arguably one of his strengths. You'd have thought this would start to decline given he's 33.

It's likely Higuain will move on- would be good to see him in the premier league.

He might play until he's 40, he's in great shape. It's weird to think he's older than Rooney

I think you might be right. I can see him going to MLS in 4 years time.

Figo played into his late 30s but lost much of his pace, I have a suspicion Ronaldo may retain it as he seems to keep himself in good shape.

    Still don't like him though!

SSN mentioned Hazard, Neymar, Mbappé or Kane likely to be replacement... so basically any world class player not already at RM!

This was discussed on Talk Sport the other night and they reckon it is nowhere near as much as people think. It was brought up because somebody said that they would make back most of the outlay in shirt sales but they said the profit margin on shirts would make it very difficult to make back anywhere near what they pay out for him in transfer fees and wages.

I would’ve thought he’ll lose his pace sometime soon but the Italian league, and it’s general slower pace, will help that.

It certainly wouldn’t surprise me if Hazard ended up at Madrid this summer.

Does this make CRonaldo the most expensive player, or did PSG pay more for Neymar the Clown?

Don't know how many shirts they would need to sell but the profit margin on shirts is huge. They are made in the far east in sweat factories and cost peanuts. The mark-up is enormous. I remember reading an article about the former Newcastle chairman Freddie Shepherd who was entrapped and caught reciting how stupid Geordies were to buy these shirts at inflated prices (£30 odd quid at the time) when they cost less than a fiver each.

Apparently shirt sales is a bit of a myth as the kit suppliers take 85-90 percent of the sale so clubs don't actually make that much.

I remember that and in all honesty I have no idea how much the final cost to the club is for every shirt nor do I know if things have changed much since the Shepherd revelation (I doubt they have changed much). Talk Sport were only speculating too, they really just said they thought it was very unlikely that shirt sales would be anywhere close to covering the costs.

He'll probably be the most expensive transfer over 30. Neymar was way more.

Edit: he's already dropped to #6. He'll be the most expressive 30+ year old player though. link

not stupid at all Tomi... many many people are sick to death of the prancing pony that he is constantly trying to steal the headlines... a lot like Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham TBH.

I find CRonaldo really annoying too and I can't stand him, but you can't deny that the prancing pony is a great player. His transfer to Juventus is pretty big news..

The best player in the world is about to succeed in a 4th different country, on top of winning a major tournament with his country. He should be applauded for constantly wanting to challenge himself and we should enjoy him whilst he's still around, as his type are few and far between.
