    2. Chris Evans. £1,669,999
    3. Graham Norton £ 609,999
    4. Steve Wright £ 559,999
    5. Huw Edwards £ 529, 999
    6. Jeremy Vine £ 449,999
    7. Nicky Campbell £ 419,999
    8. Alan Shearer £ 419,999
    9. John Humphrys £ 409,999
    10. Nick Grimshaw £ 409,999
    11. Steve Nolan £ 409,999

The highest paid woman was Claudia Winkelman who earned between £370,000 and £ 399,000
I don't know what anyone else thinks, but that seems to be an obscene amount of money to pay
some of these so called over hyped " stars".

Never understood why they get paid so much TV/Radio presenters. Same with footballers too and any sports person really. They do a job most would love to do, work short hours and sometimes only once a week and get paid HUGE amounts Bit of a sickener really. I go to work Monday to Friday and save all I can but still no where near being able to buy my own house yet but these sit in front of a camera or in a nice radio studio and get paid mad amounts

Personally, I think it's wrong that we know what individuals earn.

In regard to the wages themselves, yes, it might be obscene but they have to compete with other media companies.

It might seem easy but its not a job that anyone can do. I once had a camera shoved in my face for local news and my iq instantly dropped 50 points. I'm normally fairly eloquent but my answers were limited to "um", "er" and the like.

Compare what linekar earns with what the top stars at Man City earn for comparison.

Lineker also does a Champions League shift for BT Sport. Not that I've any axe to grind, if somebody offered me that much, I wouldn't turn it down.

Not really the fault of the individuals or the BBC, sadly it's just how the world works.

It's not wrong to know how much individuals earn when they get paid by a publicly funded organisation.

Totally disagree with your first point
    Secrecy allows discrimination,corruption and unfairness.
I agree with your second point as long as it doesn’t move into an auction type job offer

And we have to pay £150 a year for the privilege to watch bbc majority of programmes are repeats why don’t they go to advertising we might get some quality sport back instead of losing it all to satellite and cable channels

I actually feel a bit sorry for the bbc, I cant even imagine what goes on at Sky, ITV and some of the new digital set ups who aren't bound to divulge what they pay, not the allegiances many of them have, especially in their news coverage. I can understand the argument over public money and transparency, but personally, I don't think they should publish it. If anything it destabilises the set up and allows those who don't have to share information to outbid them.

I think at times the BBC have been bullied into stances, but generally, their coverage is better than most. Sky is a joke, and ITV lost its mantle as a serious broadcaster many years ago.

It will take some time, but I hope some of the female presenters and broadcasters catch up. There are some fabulous news presenters, Jane Hill, Sophie Raworth, Kate Silverton to name but a few. Some of the correspondents, such as Katya Adler who speaks multiple languages and has been doing excellent coverage from Brussels.

Sorry the quality is very poor and just goes to prove that advertising wouldn't make much difference. Not really interested in those sports you have mentioned either but they aren't the most popular in demand TV spectator sports in the country... gone are the days of football, rugby, cricket and (mostly) F1 being on free to air.

Sky and BT as well as upcoming providers such Amazon rake in revenue from subscription. If you remove the TV licence from the BBC and replace it with a similar model to ITV i can see quality only going one way...

I wonder how many hours they have to commit for that salary. I have little to say on the salaries individually other than they are clearly market value. However i would be interested to see who works what hours and how each compare.

Maybe just maybe the men are the ones with the biggest audience ? And maybe just maybe they’re more talented ? Should be purely on ability regardless of gender . We all know that jezza mob love an all female shortlist , though how anyone that is successful in that process feels is anyone’s guess .

A simple question. Say you watch News at 10 (doesn't matter whether you do or you don't). Do you switch to another channel if its say, Mishal Husain, but stay tuned if its Huw Edwards?

out of that lot , I think Graham Norton is worth the money, he's good at what he does for them - radio and TV , and would be attract rival bids

Really, really basic supply and demand aka millions of people don’t want to pay to watch you wash dishes.
