what does a location have to do with the fitness of the squad? It's how they are trained, the diet and amount of work they put in that counts
Thanks Prince . Always a showman is Ian . Martin Barre sent shivers up my spine sometimes with his guitar work .
Oooh I've got it bad now. Have a listen to this live version of Budapest. Stunning guitar work and featuring two long term Fairport Convention guys - Dave Pegg and Maartin Allcock. Maart has sadly been diagnosed with liver cancer and makes his final live performance this month at Cropredy
Didn’t a lot of the players sign after the training camp? Therefore wouldn’t have gone on the trip anyway? And I wouldn’t say it was the full squad who had fitness issues. Potts & Thiam who signed late, McGeehan who was recovering from a broken leg & had a different pre-season to the rest & George Moncur who we can only assume doesn’t live right as he’s the same every season. Don’t think the rest of them were lacking.
Sad news about Marrt . Towards the end of his time with Tull I got the impression at concerts that him and Ian weren't getting on . Confirmed with the improved rapore with THE Andy Giddings . The only time I saw Fairport was at a small venue of about 200 and met Dave Pegg . In the gents of course . I was washing my hands when a foundation shaking fart roared out . Turned round and it was Peggy .
I met Peggy,Simon Nicol, Dave Swarbrick and Martin Carthy at two different Nettlebed Folk Club nights. Would have loved to have seen Ian Anderson guesting at a Fairport gig! With acts like this the smaller venues are best. I prefer to be up close to musicians, not so far away that you have to watch them on a video screen. They get thousands at the Cropredy weekend but I never saw them play better than in front of a couple of hundred at Nettlebed.
To be fair Ian doesn’t get on with many! There was an ongoing joke that you could play a full game of cricket with the former members of Tull.
We are multi tasking , but don't tell the ladies . And for the narrow minded it started with Hungary . Talking of which it's supper time .
