Just complained about earning "peanuts" for a year at Peterborough. Posh Chairman Darragh M Anthony then tweets this:

"Imagine getting paid over £80k in your first year of playing professional league football & describing it as earning peanuts . Genuinely in shock reading that. But then again nothing surprises me in this game. But still wish him every success in future endeavours & thanks."

He's not wrong there. Got to put it in perspective, that wage is far more than most of us earn. For all his egotistical faults, I do enjoy M Anthony being so open about running a football club, and he knows how to sell a player and squeeze every penny out of them.

Bet he's raking it in at Salford.

You are assuming everything he says is correct, though.

I can assure you he is very economical with the truth. A terrific marketeer/salesman, but it’s to be noted that it’s fans of other clubs who seem to praise him the most. Posh fans aren’t as keen, as they know the truth behind the spin.

Fair comment, I remember him saying Kieffer Moore signed for us on near enough 10k a week..
But you would imagine a league one squad player could be on something on or around 1,5k a week.

Not easily sniffed at in most folks' lines of work

Danny Lloyd is a bit of a special case though - he didn’t turn full time pro for a number of years despite several offers as he had a well paid job outside football and supplemented it with semi-pro wages.

I would have thought when he was at Stockport between being the highest paid semi pro there and his full time job he’d have earned more than that.

As much as I don’t like MacAnthony, or how he puts things on social media such as this, surely Danny Lloyd had the choice to sign for them? He was well aware of the wages he’d be getting before he signed for them, surely?

Like when they were interested in Kiefer Moore DA tweeted that they couldn’t match the £10k a week he was offered by Barnsley F.C. ! My guess is KM was never going to sign for them so DA tweets **** to keep his fans inside . And it’s also my guess that KM is on nowhere near £10k a week !

I know for a fact Moore is not on as much as a handful of players such as Thiam and Fryers. Think there was only a player on more than 10k a week last season and that was Gardner and Villa were paying that. Knasmullner was on more than Moore before he left.
