Portugal, Poland and Italy have all launched bids to hold the finals next summer. Any reason why the FA haven't gone in for this?
What are people's thoughts on this? Personally I think it's an excellent idea. Reasonably competitive football against top nations. Far better than friendlies against Ecuador with ten subs.
In theory yes it's a good idea , but with Croatia / Spain in our group I'm expecting an early relegation . Could throw up some interesting games over time , next time round if Scotland get promoted we could be in the same league ......
https://www.uefa.com/uefanationsleague/news/newsid=2530180.html Leagues here . Some pretty tough ones even at L2 level .
so looking at the fixture this means an international break in Sept,Oct and Nov. kinda happy to be in L1 a little now.
not only that but if you look at groups A,B,C.... it is possible that all the four home nations and Eire coul be in the group B together.... now that WOULD be interesting
If any 3 of our internationals get called up, we will be having the break and rescheduling our fixtures for a Tuesday night!
but I was under the impression that it was only the Premiership and the championship shut down.... and not the lower leagues.
So I'm going to guess here euro championship qualies continue as normal with top 2 qualifying as normal . The last four places go to the 4 leagues ( one each ) . Let's say for example Holland finish 3 rd and fail to qualify from their euro group it goes to L1 . If everyone else has qualified in L1 Holland qualify as the best runner up . If Poland fail to qualify then it's a play off between both ( but up to four teams ) . So L2 , 3 and 4 could get really competitive . That's the way I see it anyway.....
Any EFL team with 3 call ups can request a postponement. Here is Blackburn exercising the right last season. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.u...three_players_receive_international_call-ups/
Should be much better than dreary friendlies. International breaks might be something to look forward to for a change.
Well I'm personally looking forward to it. Especially with England doing so well in the world cup, gives us another chance of silverware. It will be a tough ask to get through to the final 4 tournament for us, but at least it gets rid of some of the pointless friendlies.
Wonder if we will arrange a few friendlies to get the team up to speed for each round of the Nations Cup or to try out new players.
We have friendlies booked in for September v Switzerland and November v USA. If we get to the final 4 of the nations league, then there's a good chance there will be no international friendlies in 2019 for England.
