    I'd like to see us arrange pre-season friendlies with teams from other countries at home. Obviously the bigger teams are probably out of the question financlally, but there are plenty of teams in Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, etc who would make good opposition at this time of the year. A South Yorkshire-based mini-tournament with us and Rotherham (for example) hosting two Dutch sides for one game each would be enjoyable late July entertainment.

    Oh yes, must have missed that! Won the cup, but hadn't submitted their paperwork in time to compete in the Europa League, and then relegated two leagues for financial irregularities and dissolved. A bit of a fall from grace!

    Strange how for such a huge city, St Petersburg has never been capable of sustaining more than one professional football team. The rise of Zenit coincided with the collapse of Dynamo who now play in the amateur leagues.

    Don't know if you saw the Champions League results from yesterday, but TNS nearly pulled off one of the all-time shocks in the competition. Trailing 5-0 after the first leg in Albania, they were 3-0 up within the first half but could only manage a fourth.
