Patrick Cryne? Really? One of the five most important individuals in the 130 years of this football club?

There would be no BFC as we know it without Patrick.

Considering we wouldn't have this football club without him then yes. Whether you agree with how he subsequently ran the club or not, he saved us in our time of need - that's more important than any player, no matter how good. Tiverton Preedy and Patrick Cryne were absolute certainties as there wouldn't be a BFC without either of them but I can't argue about Norman Rimmington being one of the three originals either after he decidated the majoirty of his life to our club.

I recommend cutting your losses and not doubling down on this one...

Fair enough, seems I'm in a minority of one. For me the history of a football club is written by footballers, not administrators, but I'm clearly hugely outnumbered.

Footballers can’t write the history if they don’t have a club to play for.

There will be others that think the same as you.
Some will not comment out of respect, some will not comment for fear of getting jumped on, some will probably respond to this and call me a ****.

A Hall of Fame should (in my opinion) be for everyone that has a significant positive impact on the club, not just playing staff.
I have to put Mr. Cryne in that category, which is why I'm more than happy for him to be in there are one of the original 5.

No problem with Patrick being one of the 5. Dissapointed John Dennis not even nominated. It seems the Dennis family have been erased from the history of the club which is a great shame

Its the first inductee list covering over 130 years. They cant induct every one all at once, it takes time. And I suspect they thought having Preedy and Cryne, another "administrator" would be overkill, so rightly have gone with players and managers.

Every single one of those listed should be in it. And dozens more that trip off the tongue. As I said before, they'll all get their chance and be included in time. Its a great idea to respect players who have done some amazing things for us, many well before a lot of us were born. But if we can use this well to protect memories and allow access to our past to everyone in the future, a digital history, free for all.... I think that's a wonderful thing.

Ernest Dennis at the very least should be up there. He was almost as influential as Mr Cryne in terms of keeping the club alive in a time of dire need.

For what it’s worth I agree, it’s not a slight on him, he stepped up and did a great job, but so did most of the other previous guys at the helm. I can’t help think it’s more about the timing that got him there than in terms of worth.

I like this post a lot. I don't agree with you in regard to who should be in the 5, but I like how you've presented your opinion.
