Like others on the thread have said, the style isn't my cup of tea, but so what? I DO like the concept and it's certainly a lot better, more aesthetically pleasing, then what preceded it.
I think a lot of people are going to like it more when they see the scale of it and in situ. It's not designed for looking at on a screen, you have to be there.
I just hope there is going to be a bit of variety and that the entire stadium isn't getting decked out in the same style which will actually only appeal to a small section of fans which could end up putting others off.
I can safely say that it will neither enhance nor deplete my oakwell experience one iota. Attacking football and winning is all I’m interested in, anything else is codswallop. I do like the idea of people being served alcohol faster though so that the drunks create a better atmosphere than the usual deathly silence broken occasionally by people moaning about misplaced passes.
Regardless of whether it's everyone's preferred style Im sure the majority will recognise it's better than plain walls. And can't really see it putting people off going. I've had to endure looking at a terrible graphic of David Perkins face for the last few years. Not even that has made me think I should stay at home on a Saturday.
It’s 100% unique & if you walk the wall from start to finish it depicts all the historic & memorable moments the fans have had supporting our team. Well done to the club for allowing it & even more fair play to the artist who is doing it free of charge. We have all got some happy memories past & recent & they are all going to be on the wall, if you are a fan I can’t see how you can’t be interested, the full effect will be much better than the pictures & I’m looking forward to reading it all.
Im not into art...but im quite looking forward to seeing this in person. It wont be everyones cup of tea but like mentioned already its unique to us and is way better than plain walls.
It's a quirky style. I like it. It's better than having Ronnie cut in half and displayed in formaldehyde. Also i was driving down Eyre street in Sheffield today and noticed on one of the walls there was some artwork that looked the same style as Bens and wondered if he had done that as well.
Better than a plain wall, but not sure about the British flag. Surely England or Yorkshire would be more relevant flags for our fan base.
Not relevant then. If you just looked at the paintings of Ronnie Glavin, nobody would have any idea it's him, because it looks nothing like him. At least they give written clues to work it out.
Local artist improves local football ground common area for free.... whatever could anyone complain at …..?
My main complaint is that in his original image he's got his laptop facing the wrong way. He'd never be able to watch the footy while painting with it where it is. Unless he's painted the wall using an extension pole of course. Bloody idiot
Looks absolutely fantastic. a wonderful addition. Great job Ben and a big thumbs up to the Club for commissioning it and supporting a local artist. And to the haters oh well - something else to moan about ...
I don't think anybody has been a 'hater'. Plenty have said that they don't personally like that style but pretty much everybody has said that it's an improvement and that Ben is a very talented artist.
Exactly. I’m in the same boat I don’t ‘get’ that type of art but it’s better than breeze blocks and can appreciate the time, effort and skill it takes to do that, especially free of charge
Obviously any art is subjective, but I think it's brilliant and I know how much time, effort, love and care Ben has put into it. If you don't like the style, fine, but at least appreciate Ben's commitment, otherwise go back to complaining about the tvs not working and how long it takes to get served with bat's piss lager and a horse burger.
