I think he had a very good game. He took his saves well, his distribution was better, and he was a pretty vocal leader. Most important thkugh, he looked full of confidence and took to his new sweeper keeper role quite well.

Shows a good attitude and strong mentality to come back from a bad season, well done.

Agreed, looked confident and that bodes well. If he gets his confidence back with a few early clean sheets he’ll hopefully go from strength to strength

He looked more solid than last... but a very strange choice to kneel down and let the ball whizz past him at the near post though

I was pleased to see him back in the net. I'm hoping Walton does well this year but I reckon we need to be careful and build up his game time slowly.

I thought he made some good low down saves and his kicking looked much better than usual.

Not sure about the goal as I’ll have to see it again to make full judgement. He was beaten at his near post but I feel like Pinillos should have dealt with it before Bowen got one on one.

Made some good saves today ... could have been closer to the post for the goal though

He played like Davies - with the usual credits (great reflexes) and debits (lack of spatial awareness).

Not sure I'd agree regarding his distribution. Some awful kicking. Also could've given away a pen when he jumped into the back of one of their players. Plus he was at fault for the goal. He has shown he is good enough for this league but quite shocked people thought he played well today.

Thought he was poor today. Poor distribution, fumbled a couple of early shots which he was lucky to get away with (probably not seen from the Ponty end as his body was possibly in the way both times) and made a bit of a **** up with lindsay.

The trouble for Davies is , no matter how well he plays, some of the fan base have made their minds up & he can play really well but if he makes one mistake he will get hammered , we have to have a scapegoat & currently he is in the pole position for the job , shame really .

Some Barnsley fans are the best in the world at this. Shame really, because I tend to get lumbered with the lovely people sitting near me. Gave winnall dogs abuse for not celebrating enough when he scored for us then next he’s the biggest traitor since sliced bread. Fickle

I don't think he's a scapegoat. He had a terrible season last year, which mean't we even tried the hapless Townsend & and untried 18 year old instead of him. I don't like bashing players, but they are highly paid professionals & he was very poor last season. I'm hoping he regains his form, but I'd like us to sign a keeper if possible, who can give him some time on the sidelines if necessary. Think it's a bit early for Jack Walton, who has done well so far, but is still learning his trade. (Very few 18 year old keepers in the league as first choice).

I'm more disappointed we didn't get a new goalkeeping coach in ahead of pre season as I think Davies has gone backwards under John Vaughan. Someone with fresh ideas would have given him a new start but I guess it's more of the same. It appears Davies will be given the first chance in goal so I will get behind him, however, if he starts making errors that cost us goals then he will rightly get criticised.

I actually thought he started the season well last year but the longer the season went his form & confidence dipped but he was not on his own , there was plenty of outfield players who had poor seasons last year & it was certainly not down to Davies that we ended up getting relegated . Hopefully he gets back to the form he showed during our promotion season but I fear if he makes an error early in the season our unforgiving fans will give it him big time .
