Have they invested more in the academy? What have the invested and what’s the result of that investment from an infrastructure/coaching perspective? That’s really great and exciting news. I thought all budgets were being cut back but if they have invested heavily In the academy that’s great news.

They didn't say they were going to do it all in one foul swoop, besides Dougall fits that category, and didn't we give new contracts to several youngsters only a few weeks back? Only last week we had an Argentinian in for a trial.

    Here here.

It wouldn’t ‘please’ most fans anyway.

Only the ones with a sense of entitlement or skewed thinking.

They aren’t allowed to just throw money in anyway, though doubtless some on here expect them to do so and then pay the multimillion fines for breaking ffp rules, because ‘they’re billionaires and they could’.

They likely don’t have the liquid assets to do that anyway, I imagine most of their wealth is tied up in their multiple business interests, of which we are one small example.

They got the manager wrong in February which had cost us - but we are being ran sensibly and without having to give in as soon as anyone bids for a player. Can’t see anything to complain about financially.

They paid that artist to vandalise the Ponty End.

So far then they are delivering on their promises on the playing side then?

I guess frustration does creep in when people set their own expectations, believe they are the truth and then someone else fails to meet them.

They did something to try and sort the west stand, they’ve improved the lights, added more food and drink outlets to the east stand concourse, they’ve had these murals done in the ponty end. Things to make the place look a little less tired.

They have yet to sort the PA system out - but they did buy a new scoreboard...

They might not have spent stacks - but they’ve spent. More than was done before as well.

Not sure they have a big say in what goes on with infrastructure at the mo .
You don’t spend thousands upgrading your rented home if you don’t know what the future holds . I know I wouldn’t

Expectation is a funny thing. It's something we start watching football without, but it grows on us with time - some more than others.

Any kind of past success or the success of "similar" clubs gets some people's imagination running riot and that expectation erodes patience and rational thinking.

I'm of the opinion that the playing squad is ok in most positions and that the owners will add to what we have in January when we will know where we are and what's required, if anything.

But wouldn't it be fantastic if, with this new manager and coaches, we were able to bring the very best out of the younger players we already have, rather than having spent millions on goodness knows who that might or might not do well.
I'd love it if we were in the playoffs at the very least with home grown lads alongside the seniors. Then we could say that was the reason the owners and manager didn't panic in the last close season, they had faith in what we already had.
If it goes tits up then we'll have another discussion later !

I haven't been to Oakwell since the Derby debacle.

Is there really a new scoreboard?

Only thing different this Saturday to last season is:
Fewer quality players on show now Yiadom and McBurnie have gone.
    One new midfielder.
See how Stendel lines them up and how hard they work.

Haven’t these directors heard of ‘putting a marker down’.
    Or .......... ‘showing intent’.

Turned down numerous high bids for our best players. We would have lost 4 players by now under the previous regime and be really up **** creek. We've brought in a defensive midfielder that everyone was crying out for and l dont think we need much else. Its League 1.
