    Had a game of all hearts with John Barnes at reighton gap. He wasn’t entirely sure of rules and tactics so I had to explain that he had to hold and give but do it at the right time as going out of turn is frowned upon.

    I was on the same plane as Pablo Zabaleta about 3 years ago coming back from Barcelona. Also met Dev from corrie in Liverpool in April this year.

    Had a kiss off Aleisha Dixon, chatted to Martin O’Neill, met Peter Andre, saw Ronnie Mitchell and Cilla Black, chatted with Charlie Boorman. All in the same place I go on holiday to in Spain over the years. The Reds had pre season training there one summer as well but didn’t go out in the village. Also gave Bernie Flint directions to a club in Norwich once.

    Watched the World Cup Semi final 1990 with Peter Nicholas (Footballer) in Laffanc on the Costa Brava. He was a really nice guy who trained every morning and had a few beers in the evenings.

    Puerto Pollensa May 2000 just after playoff final. Wigan had lost the day after us. A couple of days later and a couple of days later Darren Sheriden turned up at the hotel. I walked up to him and said 'you're Darren Sheriden' to which he replied ' I might be' and then shook hand and we both chuckled. I explained I was a Barnsley fan and that's how I recognised him. Anyway my wife told me not to bother him as he was on holiday so I didn't.
    Later in the day I was dozing on a sun lounger and I felt the lounger being gently kicked. I looked up and it was Shez.. 'we were a good team weren't we ? ' that was it, we passed quite a few hours over the next few days talking about 'that' team, etc and also about their John who was a really skillful player.

    Really nice down to earth bloke who loved being a footballer and enjoyed sharing his experiences. Loved it.
