Yeah would agree. I got a bit bored and switched it off if I'm honest but my attention span has been a bit like that all day. Hopefully, the players don't feel the same way
Over the years, there's been plenty of managers/Head Coaches who came across very well in front of the camera and/or microphone, but fail miserably with their team. Nigel Spackman is a classic example of that at our club. I'll judge Stendel on his record with the team, not his press conferences.
I also felt bored by it and had to switch it off. Personally I am struggling with how we have lost that closeness of having a fan as an owner and a fan as head coach. I am sure I am not the only one is who feeling like that though. Still come Saturday that match day feeling will be there I know that for sure. Fresh start and all that but I do wish I could lose the nagging feeling of something not feeling the same anymore regarding my affinity to the club.
To be fair, I love my job and am really enthusiastic about it but if I had to give an interview to Radio Hannover's equivalent of Andy Giddings in German through an interpreter, I reckon I'd sound a little dull and trepidacious. I'll judge him by what happens on the pitch. I'd have quite easily swapped most of LJs August to December 2015 ****** bingo upbeat press conferences for some sound tactics and decent performances on the pitch.
I got the feeling he seemed a bit unimpressed by the questions, the kind of guy who doesn’t like talking to the press. Which is totally fine by me! Can’t be doing with managers who like the sound of their own voice. He’ll do for me
Well he wont be running anywhere if you are on his back Kev - squashed into the ground rather than hitting it running id guess unless he is stronger than he looks
Agree, was a really poor interview from radio sheffield. The asking a question then not waiting for the interpreters reply (clearly demonstrating no interest in the actual response to his premeditated questions), was a particular low point.
Was a bit disappointed not to hear anything from GG on the player side of things. Otherwise Stendel was giving nothing away. Was a bit of a waste of time, but we'd have all been moaning if there wasn't one i guess.
Happy with the players at his disposal, Stendel has also stressed that he is not planning to tap into the German market to bring in new recruits, with his belief being that those already in his squad are more than capable of successfully implementing his own footballing philosophy. Stendel, who confirmed that goalkeeper Adam Davies will captain the Reds tomorrow, added: “If the opportunity is there you would not say no to German players. But it is about getting to know the squad and starting work with them. I am satisfied with the quality, so there is no huge need to sign German players. “We do have a young squad with a lot of power, especially for our style of play. In transition we have a lot of players with great pace and we will aim to use that strength, power and pace, which will be our strength.” Read more at: https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...k-to-get-fans-quickly-on-their-side-1-9282814
