We are looking at revamping the awards this season. We have kind of been left a sh*t hand there. I agree that the whole thing needs looking at, and we will do.
17/18 - williams 16/17 - kent 15/16 - mawson 14/15 - Holgate 13/14 - jennings 12/13 - rose 11/12 - Butterfield This is as far back as I can find results for
Good stuff, not everything will be improved over night but it’s always good to know there are plans to improve things. If anyone was going to win it from the U23s surely Victor A or Walton stood out most from the few games I saw. If you know who voted or decided the award are you at liberty to share that? Not a problem if not I’m just curious.
I remain convinced that any half decent manager would have kept us up even with our limited squad at championship level. I'm not excusing the players or Hecky by the way who have to accept some of the blame.
We weren’t involved in the process. So I can’t answer that. The only bits we were involved in were the media and marketing of the awards. But I think we’ll be looking to take it on this season, fingers crossed.
I think the players have a lot to do in terms of convincing themselves that they are good enough for this level, not just those of us in the stands. Personally I think we have enough for a challenge at the top 6, I don't think it'll be a walk in the park, and like after our last relegation, there is part of me that can see a season of inconsistency before hopefully clawing our way back up. 2 seasons to do it last time, 4 before that, admittedly with the latter we were in utter turmoil with administration etc. Biggest thing Stendel needs to do is get the players out of a defeatist mentality and the low confidence that a season like last year brings, it'd certainly help to get points on the board straight away. That said, you can only imagine what the mindset was on Boxing Day 2015 when we were bottom of the league, with players who we look on now as heroes were doing little to convince us how good they were. Fully respect thst everyone will see things differently, but I was pretty despondent after the Hill/Flitcroft era when I really felt the club was on its @r5e, but I don't feel that way this time, especially now that Morais has gone. We simply weren't good enough last season, I'm happy to judge this coming season after match 46. Won't make it tomorrow as I'm travelling back from holiday, but give em a shout for me.
What Conan said is that tomorrow, just before 3pm, you will be clapping onto the pitch a set of gutless and dishonest footballers.
Yes you are entitled to your moaning, negative, pessimism. Have you tried therapy? Or mood altering substances? It's not important of course, but I am looking for someone to haunt my house at Hallowe'en. Are you free?
I think that the least we should expect from a team is 100%. If you are beaten by the better team you have to accept it because you tried at least. I saw a good number of games by the majority of players still at the club who either didn’t care or weren’t there because they didn’t care so much they had to be loaned out as L1 bit parts. Now new coaches can work miracles, it is true, but we have no reason to believe this guy can with the same players. Maybe he can, ok, but there is no reason for blind optimism in the face of facts, and others who see that should be allowed their opinion. So debate the facts not the person, tell me reasons to be optimistic rather than slag me off.
I wouldn't come to your house free or not. You sound like another bore with absolutely nothing to say. Another poster who is about as interesting as a paper bag.
I'm pretty sure Andy Liddell won it having not made a first team appearance, because he had banged in an absolute shedload in the Northern Intermediate League.
This group of players will prove the spreadsheet works, last year was too soon and too big of a challenge with too much going on behind the scenes for these young players to handle. This year is different, we have kept the team together, brought in a united sane management team, not let any players we want to keep leave, we have a big squad with cover that means we can cope with injuries better than other teams in this league, brought in a DCM which was needed, we look to be developing our U23s and giving them a chance. The biggest worry will be January when players like Lyndsay, Pinnock, Douglass, Bradshaw, Moore, Potts, Mowatt are wanted by the bigger championship clubs. Thiam, Cavare, Jackson, Hedges Isgrove, Victor, Mcgeehan could also progress to be wanted. This will be a big year and the time that shows the spreadsheet was right.
I don't share this concern as I don't think any of the players will be wanted - but I hope they are. How can you come to this conclusion about Dougall when he hasn't kicked a ball in English football?
Other than the friendly I saw, the videos I've seen, the fact that he's been spotted, scouted, brought in and the type of player he seems to be I can't predict he will be sought after, that one is more a feeling that he will do well for us as I think Thiam and Cavare will. Looking forward to this afternoon, hope we all enjoy it.
Yet again if someone doesn’t have the negative mindset you have, they’re classed as boring. Quite ironic really. Try and enjoy the game today. Come on you reds!
