With the quality we have in our squad we should have a good season ahead of us. Anything beneath top 6 would be really disappointing and an underachievement.

It’s really important to get off to a good start with such a young squad, so that they can shake off that losing mentality from last season.

I think a lot also hinges this season on some of these midfielders stepping up to the plate - Mowatt, McGheehan, Moncur and Potts. If they don’t in the first month we need to replace.

There is a gulf between the championship and league one and a number of these players are good enough for the championship.

    Come on you reds.

    Agree Chef.
Just hope they are strong mentally & physically
It's going to be a long hard season
I look at some of our team and really hope they are up to the battles ahead.
Still think we need more quality in a couple of areas, but reckon that is being addressed.

    Agree with your sentiments here
Agree Chef. Pessimism recently rules at the Well for a reason albeit let’s not forget our bigger achievements. Away on my hols today so won’t be there but hoping for a great start to the season. Think we’ve got enough talent in the squad to do much better at this level.

A lot depends on our strikers firing & not getting injured aswell - we don't have a great deal beyond Moore & Bradshaw.

Our success will depend on how many good crosses we can get into the box.

Tom Bradshaw scored 9 league goals for us last season. One was a penalty and the other 8 were converted crosses. 2 of the 3 goals he scored in the cup were from converting a cross. He'll not create many goals for himself or others, but if we get it wide and put in decent crosses he'll score goals.

8 of Keiffer Moore's 13 goals at Rotherham were from converting crosses. A further three were sticking in the rebound off the keeper after waiting in the middle for a cross.

We haven't got the most skilful forward line in League 1. We haven't got the fastest. They're not great at shooting or beating a man. There's much better in a 1 on 1 situation with the keeper. But get the ball into the box from out wide and you'll not get a better return from any other two forwards in this league.
