The Green Un still exists?? Well, I never.

Can't believe that in this age of multi media outlets available instantly that a paper based on the concept of quickly scribbling some notes, getting them printed up, sent to press for us to wait outside the newsagents for it to arrive by 7pm still exists, even in online form as it competes with numerous other sites where you can get the same info. Its about as relevant as Blockbuster Videos.

It used to be on sale by the bus station by the time you'd walked there straight after the match had finished. Always wondered how they managed to do that!

Current practice is web first, print secondary. Problem is, that web revenues are peanuts compared to where print was 10 years ago. So your local newspapers, who used to employ teams of photographers and dedicated journalists. Now rely heavily on freelance staff or agencies that may have little other interest in our region.

The GreenUn went online only in 2013 when it became un-economical as a print product. Not helped by ever changing kickoff times and the availability of results etc. online. This, after 106 years in circulation. When it started, they used to have carrier pigeons fly the match reports from the grounds to head office.
