Reminds me of the t rex from Jurassic Park when he's running, he looks slow but it's because he's a big bugger and takes massive strides. I swear there were ripples in my bovril in the east stand upper at one point
For his goal, I loved when he was steaming forward with the ball and their player (Hall was it?) tried to tackle him and just bounced off. Such a strong runner.
I like Potts, and get plenty of "friendly banter" from the folks I sit next to on Row BB for it. I reckon he'll excel at this level, he does give us power and as you say, he's deceptively quick. I know he has limitations, but for me he's the fastest box to box player we've got, and surprisingly difficult to get the ball off when he's running. I can't back up my opinion with facts, but I think we play better with him in the side.
I actually thought Potts was ok last season but didn't always get the credit he deserved so it is good to see him getting some plaudits. It's early days but I have a feeling he's going to be outstanding for us this season.
He was ***** when he first came. In conjunction with Pearson I thought we were signing players for a laugh but he was easily the most improved player last season and I expect him to be brilliant in this league.
He’s very athletIc and works hard. He needs to improve technically but has time on his side. A year in league one will do him good. He’s a top lad too.
I reckon he’d have looked good with someone like Scowen next to him but the fact that the rest of the midfield were all over the shop didn’t help him transition up 2 levels of football.
It would have been difficult for any new player to perform at their best in the turmoil that existed at Oakwell over last season. Along with Mowatt and Dougall we may well have the strongest midfield in the league
What impressed me the most about Potts yesterday was how he bumped off their players, he was very hard to knock off the ball and he looked very athletic for his size. Maybe he and one or two others could be real 'gems' for us this season.
My only problem with Potts is that because of his size and stature he only appears to have 70 minutes in him, although the whole team were understandably ‘feeling the heat’ yesterday!.
If ever there has been an example of a player who jumped to too high a level too quickly, I think it's Brad Potts. He'll be a very able Championship midfielder one day, but for now, he's at the right level in League One, where he can drive the team forward and dominate midfields. He was developing into a top League One midfielder at Blackpool and we took a punt, fair enough. Now he can continue to develop at a level that currently suits him down to the ground. His confidence will come back and I think he'll be a star this season. Ten goals in him easy for me.
Good to see him race from our penalty to theirs thirteen minutes from time, with opposition players unable to close him down, in the move where he scored our third goal. Then, in the last few minutes, he powered down the right wing, leaving Oxford players in his wake, putting in a terrific cross which eventually led to young Victor grabbing our fourth.
It is good to see many of the players seemingly born again as it were. You have to wonder what the new coaching squad are preaching to them... Its early doors , but its promising.
Right player if his brain worked half a second quicker. It doesn’t however that’s why he plays for us. He’ll do alright in this league I think
I love Brad Potts and always have done. Hopefully he'll prove his worth this year and show his critics what he can do.
