Does anyone know if a punishment is points deductions?

It seems bizarre to me to just fine clubs - if they genuinely wanted to deter clubs a points deduction would be more likely to work and would be fairer all round.

Perhaps FFP is just a money making exercise

No points dedication. Biggest farce there is.

    Transfer embargo and fines.

FFP is an excuse to take money from clubs. Clubs get off lightly as they already have a strong squad from breaking FFP, have no players taken from them forceably and don't have any points deducted.

Total joke. I have a feeling that the Premier League stuck their oar in to make the punishments as lenient as possible, surprise surprise.

Another more practical issue, is that any points deduction / non-promotion etc is likely to be vigorously appealed. Bearing in mind how long the QPR case dragged on for, would lead to clubs having deductions hanging over them for a year or more. I'm not sure how that would work. Although I'm sure there is a way around it, I just don't see much desire from the side of the authorities.

I think i read somewhere that FFP isn't published until so long through the following season, surely if they sort it so its worked out as the season goes on then anyone falling foul of the rules yet winning promotion lose their place to the next club, that'll stop them

I would fine them before start of the next season, along lines of say 20% revenue streams. That way if team was successful it would hit them after being promoted and cost more.

I'd love to see points deductions. And if they got promoted to the Premiership by breaking FFP rules I'd refuse to let them back in the football league after relegation. Let them start back in the National League, or whichever lower division will take them.

Problem with that is that they are out of the jurisdiction of the EFL once a team gets into the premier league. It’s why the QPR and Bournemouth saga played out for so long.

It becomes a farce with the EFL doing deals with the offending clubs. Simply put, breaking these rules is cheating other clubs - they get success by flouting the rules- only punishment they’ll understand is points deduction to “right the wrong” not fines & a transfer embargo - the “damage” has been done by then! Rotherham twice had big points deductions for going into receivership, not for cheating!

TBH, that’s why I said following year, but all the leagues would have to play ball.
