Fair enough... The coaching team are happy that we've enough cover and strong in that right back position. And we've retained an interest in him. That'll do!!
Cavare and Williams as back up. I expect Williams will get a chance with injury or suspension to cavare..... another player song gone!!
Pity, I had really high hopes for him when we signed him, spoke well, thought there could've been a captain in there. But it's not worked out for him and he's not managed to take his few chances despite average competition for the spot. Note we've retained an interest.... but not made a profit! Best of luck Jason, hope it works out at Wycombe.
Well, in all fairness the club got criticised when it said we'd made a profit on the transfers of three other squad players this Summer, so it' seems only natural to criticise the club when it DOESN'T say we made a profit on the tranfer of a fourth.
Weidr one with Mccarthy because a lot of our fans seem to rate him - he frustrated me more than most last year, and that's saying a lot! I don't know if it was Hecky's instructions or what, but he never stopped a cross going into the box. NEver closed down a winger at all. Really annoying - that's his job!
I'm still not how we managed to make money on the other 2 to be honest. Always used to be the case that if a signing doesn't work out, you get less than what you paid. Inflation is so crazy nowadays, you could just stockpile and make profits! ;-)
Wasn't he at fault for failing to close down the winger who crossed for brownhill to score in last minute? A bloke near me told me villa game his pass completion rate was below 40% he seemed decent going forward for me but suspect at defending.
As others have said, I had high hopes for him when we signed him and a lot of fans seemed to rate him, he got his own song after all. I was expecting him to go out on loan for the season though, not a permanent transfer. Does Cavare’s contract run out at the end of this season?
Seemed a lovely lad. I thought he had potential especially at L1 level. Understandable transfer if the boss sees Cavare as first choice with Williams as back up. Good luck Jason.
Understand the decision. He will want to be playing games which at the moment he wouldn't be doing that. On a personal level I have a lot of respect for him as he donated money to the Liam Jones Legacy.
We have a sell on clause by the looks. Happy to trust the new gaffer who he thinks can play the style of football he's looking for. I think Williams could get a chance if Cavare is out, I think he's highly thought of. All the best to Jason, obviously a great lad & a good pro. We could yet make money on him getting a move in a year or two. Players that age need to be getting game time.
