Let me get this clear , are you saying that the promotions & trips to wembley were dark days ? . If that is the case , you are saying that the Barnsley fans did not get pleasure from these occasions ? . I firmly believe that watching your team is all about ups & downs & yes in the last 12 years we have had our share of downers but we also have had some memorable ones & no matter how much drivel you spout , you will not alter my opinion on that .
We were functioning as the under funded club we always have been. Doing our best to survive, compete and snatch whatever successes we could along the way. Those dark days are only behind us as long as the current owners choose to put their thumb on the scales investment wise. Should they choose not to do so we'll be back to factory setting.
I only hope the coaching team has options in the 'tactics' tool box. The high paced pressing full on game caught the 1st two teams by surprise and overwhelmed them. It may be if we continue in that vein, whilst hard for teams to handle they may well adapt to that style of play and counter it . Without some rotation the team will find it very difficult to maintain that high level over 46 games so we need some strength in depth particularly up front. At least that is my view but I admit to knowing sod all about the subtleties of managing a football team. That is when the new coaching team will show what they are made of. For now, we enjoy the ride and no one can deny they came out with 'intent' and with all guns blazing.
I hope you are right but its a bit too early to be confident I quite enjoyed the last season we spent in League one though - well the second half of it anyway. I particularly like the way we are playing attacking football trying to win games comfortably rather than trying to stifle the opposition and hope to nick a goal
That reasoning goes with any tactics and winning teams . If a team is using certain tactics it’s for the ppposition to worry about . I’m sure wether other teams try to counter act on them or just try to stop us playing we’ll be prepared . Obviously there will be teams that are successful doing it and there’ll be times when it just doesn’t go for us for whatever reason, but I’m optimistic that for the majority of games in this league our tactics and willingness plus our strength of squad will overcome most teams and we will have a very successful season
Just seemed the right time to remind those who've been to Blackpool tonight about how unlucky they've been, turning up for that game. Obviously a blip.
We were only promotion chasing for half a season, the other half we were the shittest we've been for 30 odd years. This team's more class than the play offs.
Yeah but we enjoyed playing in that competition, we enjoyed our day at Wembley and it contributed significantly to the feel good atmosphere for the rest of our promotion winning season.
There will be no trips to Wembley this season because we will be promoted without the need for the play offs.
Just been out. Come back in. Tonight's score still seems to be the same. But we're still on for the best season in 20 years.
We are playing a different style of football this season which probably needs more recovery time. Unless we have good quality backup players who can step in, then it's unlikely we will succeed in the midweek cups. Tonight those backup players did not show they are ready unfortunately It's upsetting, but tonight was their chance.
