Meant in terms of financial gain. I doubt very much playing on a Friday night had that much to do with it anyway, just had a good team at that stage.
It wouldn't surprise me if at some stage if people didn't attend a game in person. You pay your money from anywhere in the world, get a live feed of the game, a microphone through your computer/device, and you can sing and it be heard in the "ground". Instead of seats, there are screens, with your digitised self, and a forward facing camera. Think of the "away" followings a club could cash in on. Man U at home.... 1.2m viewers worldwide.
I feel let down - I was sure you would remember - what we need is someone with a collection of old programmes to check when it changed Im certain it was after the 73-74 season but before the 78-79 one but dont know exactly when - Almost certainly Jim Ileys fault
Got it - It was the start of the 1976/77 season we changed There is a helpful set of program covers on a Bradford site - when we played them at home in the 75/76 season we kicked off at 3:15 the following year it was 3:00 http://bradfordcityfootballprogrammes.co.uk/venue/barnsley/
It would be interesting to look at how much it added to their average attendance. I don't know for sure but I'm assuming it was significantly otherwise they wouldn't have continued doing it.
Yeh but only because certain Everton/Liverpool fans see Tranmere as their second team and allowed them to go watch. Most clubs don’t have that kind of setup with bigger clubs in the area who’s fans would go watch.
