    Here’s the overall plan for the West Stand.

    It seems to do away with the gents WC altogether - so how do you open the entire West Sand without Gents facilities at that end? I mean, good idea, but you’d think they’d incorporate something into it. Not sure how it sits with sanitation and planning without these toilets now?

    All what this does is upgrade the press building that is already there.

    Upgrading and spending money on this building could mean that there isn’t going to be a new west stand.

    If I was the new owners I’d look at buying the old school area and push Grove Street into that space - which would then provide more space to square off and redevelop the West Stand.

    Yes it has.
    To me this looks like they have no intention of opening that side of the stand to the public.
    Can’t open it if they don’t have the facilities to cater for the punters.

    The planned building is in the side of the West stand which is out of use anyway. There are 2 blokes toilets at the other end of the stand.

    Not been in the West Stand for years. Last year was me & my dad going, 1999 ish.
    Facilities were minimal.

    I've not been in the West Stand since the '80s / early '90s and the facilities back then were pretty grim (as I remember them).

    Yup. So I can only assess from this, that they are no plans to reopen that side of the stand.

    I know the toilets at that side were a mess, and a pain to maintain, so it makes sense to get rid - but I thought this may have been a 2 tier affair. New WC block below, and media centre above. It could have also been bigger as could have accommodated the ladies WC as well, knocking both down.

    However, keeping it just below the existing boundary wall makes sight-lines a non issue, and therefore planning easier.

    Unless BMBC licensing are happy to permit opening with reduced facilities?

    Let’s be honest it’s not going to take much to build some more toilets if we were to ever require that side of the west stand

    We can’t fill the east and ponty end so wouldn’t be too worried

    True, but I’ve been pissing there for the best part of 45 years and have always managed.

    In fact I’d like to see the West Stand urinals, broken bottle shards atop the walls and all, given listed building status and left well alone.
