Doing well again. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/b...-playoffs-baseball-billy-beane-mlb?CMP=twt_gu
Thought I saw a picture of him in directors box just after the takeover. (Int chron.) May have dreamt it. So I'll stand corrected mate. Old age creeping in.
Billy Beane is not named on the investment vehicle llc documents that purchased Barnsley He has no share or financial involvement in BFC It’s also been stated he has nothing to do with the running or helps out in any way at Barnsley He’s a paid employee of Oakland A’s He’s just a football fan in general I believe reading he follows Arsenal games results from afar
Why does he get credit when it was the stats guy who actually picked out the players. Beane had the balls to go the stats route but he didn’t choose the players or invent the formula
He did in a way , he put it all together , the stats, the purchases etc . The stats guy on his own would never have been able to do it.
Ok, I'm confused. I know he's not a director, but I thought (based on numerous press reports around the time of the takeover) that he was part of the consortium of investors that bought the club. If that's not the case, then what's his connection to BFC? And if - as you seem to be saying - there isn't one... then why are we having a thread about him?
i always thought he was part of the consortium who took over. This article says he is too https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...y-beane-among-investors-consortium-completes/
When specifically asked the question in the press conference Paul Conway described Billy Beane as being an investor. Also, https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/company-details/
i looked at the HK company's site a couple of months ago There was PDF there, just about 100 % sure remembering his name wasn't on it. He does multiple interviews every week. One of the questions he is just about always asked as he is a known follower of European football is will the system cross over to football , has anyone seen a interview where he talks or mentions he is a shareholder in BFC seems kind of odd being asked questions about football and not mentioning it
Do you have a link to anything on BFC Investment Company Limited? I can’t find anything online and I’m not familiar with the disclosure requirements of companies incorporated in Hong Kong as opposed to England and Wales where filings are readily available to view at Companies House. The club are obliged under the EFL Regs to confirm, as they have done, those with a significant interest which is defined as :- “Significant Interest’ means the holding and/or possession of the legal or beneficial interest in, and/or the ability to exercise the voting rights applicable to, shares or other securities in the Club which confer in aggregate on the holder(s) thereof ten (10) per cent or more of the total voting rights exercisable in respect of the shares of any class of shares of the Club. All or part of any such interest may be held directly or indirectly or by contract including, but not limited to, by way of membership of any Concert Party, and any rights or powers held by an Associate, Nominee or Connected Person shall be included for the purposes of determining whether an interest or interests amounts to a ‘Significant Interest’.” I think that pretty much puts it to bed irrespective of BB’s comments, or lack thereof.
