Yesterday i didn't think we were all that bad. We were far the better team against a well organised to defend Wimbledon. Our downfall was not taking the chances we had and wasting much of the crosses and midfield play. We didn't lose and kept a clean sheet. However its games like this where i think we lack leadership. Someone to pick up the tempo when frustration sets in, talks to the players and gets chins up. Also makes sure Potts and Cavare et al get the message regarding quality of crossing and decision making. Im not sure what we can do given this isn't a trait you can just pick up but right now this is something for me missing and recognised by the coaching staff as missing. Be interesting to see how this develops.
A big plus yesterday was the support of the fans. It was a very frustrating afternoon, but apart from a few moments of understandable discontent, they stayed with the players until the final whistle. The ground was rocking second half waiting for our corners, trying to make a difference. Last season had things not been coming off for the players, the crowd would have turned on them and they would have gone in to their shells frightened of misplacing a pass. Long may it continue.
Despite what we served up last season I thought the fans at Oakwell gave the team vocal support reight up to the end and remember it well because it was a bit suprising. Where does tha sit Dreamy?
Not a criticism of Davies but having a goalkeeper as captain wastes the opportunity which Wimbledon exploited expertly yesterday of being in the ref's ear all game and making it seem like they were being hard done to even though to the rest of in the ground he was bending over backwards to favour them.
Sit in the east stand. Fans last season could have been much worse than they were. But some home games the atmosphere wasn't very pleasant to be around. The good start to the season gets you giddy. Even as much as the ball wasn't sticking, I still thought we'd find a way to sneak a winner. We will win at Rochdale. It might be easier to pick up points away, where home teams have to give us more a game.
