Andy Giddings just tweeted the following from this morning presser with AW: #barnsleyfc assistant coach Andreas Winkler confirms Tom Bradshaw is having a medical at #Millwallfc today, ahead of proposed move. #barnsleyfc AW confirms Bradshaw wanted to move because of family reasons. #barnsleyfc AW says they are looking for a replacement, but nothing is imminent. AW adds they may also try and sign a winger as well before the deadline. #barnsleyfc defender Dimitri Cavare is a minor doubt for the trip to Scunthorpe. Lloyd Isgrove is still not fit enough to play.
Absolutely piss poor. Especially not having a replacement lined up. Those family reasons have been there all summer yet they let him go now the seasons started with nothing lined up? Unacceptable.
What a joke if a past owner was still here in charge conan and the rest would have their pitch forks out now.
It’s not really unnaceptable is it. And I imagine Winkler is playing his cards close to his chest regarding replacements. Perhaps we’ve got a great deal, and a player who doesn’t want to be here is going.
Another update is: Re replacements, Barnsley have lots of names. But want to make sure have right replacement, Winkler says. As it stands, nothing too advanced. #Barnsleyfc Seems we have a list of players ready just nothing too advanced, seems odd to let him go without one ready to come in but I am sure we will be ok for the game Saturday with what we have then can get one in before next game. Pretty dodgy to let him go without one ready to sign though gotta admit
All I can do is take the interview at face value, which is absolutely unacceptable. If he doesn’t want to be here now, he didn’t 4 months ago when we could have got a suitable replacement. Giving far too much benefit of the doubt.
Prefer to wait to see how events unfold. Hysteria is the food for this board though. If we’ve sold a striker for a decent fee who wants to move away then so be it. I’ll see who we replace him with before saying it’s unnaceptable. Imagine It is rare for an assistant manager to state publically who we are targeting, and how close they are to signing. Until a deal is done then no point saying it’s close.
Makes no sense at all does it. We have turned down bids all summer then it's family reasons. Don't blame the player at all the club should just have said you need to honour your contract. All that said if we do get someone in ibwknt be too upset as I never rated him anyway
Feels abit like same old to me but some on here are trying to dress it up as okay. Timing is the worst ever.
The timing is the thing for me too. Should have told him he had to stay. The thing I keep reminding myself is he's not very good so as long as we get someone in its not too bad really. However if we were to lose on Saturday we all know how everyone will react.
Using the excuse of 'family reasons' is nonesense. So lets say Newcastle or Huddersfield came in for him , what would he say ?
It's irrelevant what he says we are choosing to let him go. Just like Winnall and Hourihane before it's nothing to do with the player. The club make the decison.
Agree with most comments. Looks amatuerish and stinks of penny pinching again on face value of facts. But we all said this when Winnall left 'A replacement will be lined up trust me' and it never was forthcoming. It may be all smoke and mirrors but at the moment it looks hap hazard and reactionary, just when we start to believe things are different and theres a new dawn being created.... same as it ever was.
Who knows. Hence the earlier thread I started asking for some clarification from GeeGee. But as usual - nothing. The club needs to realise that Ben Mansford has been the CEO at Barnsley - this guy was highly thought of by Radio Sheffield in his ability to keep us Barnsley fans onboard with events at the club.
He should be made to wait to complete the move after we have sourced a replacement for him. On face value it appears we are being pretty naive can only hope club are down the line of sorting one out as we are short of strikers anyway and at some point we are going to have injuries along the way.
