Gifted in terms of talent, and I’m not accusing him of not trying. But I don’t think he fits in this team with how we play. Not to start anyway.

He’s a passenger a lot of the time. Needs to be an impact sub to try to win us a game or have a go at tired defences.

I know it’s easy to say it, and he’s been replaced, but we missed Bradshaw today. Their back line had too much time to play out.

Hopefully Cauley will be fit soon and do a better job.

Glad we came back, they’ve obviously got a bit of heart.

He is fit. The hamstring thing was a myth.

    Glad to hear it.

Get him training and into the side.

In the final 30 minutes we showed we wouldn't necessarily miss Bradshaw. It's just that Moncur isn't the right replacement.

Yeah that’s the point, he’s been replaced, though today they were always likely to play moncur, showed up what Bradshaw did for us.

Not saying we will necessarily miss him long term, we did today though.

Think Moncurs been given more than enough opportunities and he’s always proved he’s not up to affecting the game enough on regular occasion.

Clearly must show a lot in training as all coaches seem to like him but he just can’t do it on a matchday when he starts a game.

Think the end of this season will be the right time to move on for both parties.

I think you’re probably correct with him showing it in training. I mean, he’s shown us flashes of brilliance in games but they are few and far between.

I could possibly see him going in January so we recoup some transfer fee for him, particularly if the lad from Bury is going to come back from his loan.

Moncur’s not fit to start for any professional club. He’s an impact player off the bench, it’s all he’s got the engine for.

Strange how many folk wanted him to replace Bradshaw when he’s never shown anything to suggest he could do that role with us

He's taking up the space of someone who could be more useful to the team.

Moncur is a talented player at this level and possibly above, I hope he moves on because no one needs to put up with the rubbish written on social media and to prove all the negative keyboard bullies wrong. I saw no evidence yesterday of him being unfit or not trying, he was unlucky not to win it for us near the end and was as driven to succeed as anyone.
If anyone doesn't like him as a player and you prefer to watch other players run around all day with obviously less ability then good for you but the endless drivel written about him and just to create this season's scapegoat is ********.

The only time he looked like a player was towards the end of the 2016/17 season, when Matty James was playing the holding role.
I really thought at the start of 2017/18 he was going to hit the ground running & be a replacement for Conor. Sadly he's not put in more than a cameo role since then. I'd have been happy for him to go this summer, but I suspect there were zero offers. Think we'll just let him run his contract down & use him as an impact sub, unless Colchester want him back in January for a small fee.

He barely gets any stick, people continually make excuses for him. There were loads of our fans calling for him to start when Bradshaw left. He’s incredibly popular who’s done next to nothing for us since joining.

And why would people prefer to have someone less talented who runs a lot? It’s not one or the other. We’ve had plenty of talented players that work hard & have ability.

Moncur himself knows that as two of them kept him out of the team when he first joined in Hourihane & Scowen

Hourihane and screen where CM Moncur isn't, I have read and listened to too much Moncur criticism so I know it's not barely any and obviously he is popular with some as he is a decent player.

Hecky and Morias shambles last season did nothing to help assist Moncurs career and as JP said he looked decent the season before playing with Matty James.

5 games in this season we haven't lost in the league yet, new management team working out the best system and learning about the players and yesterday not winning wasn't down to Moncur' s effort, work rate, fitness, having the heart of a pea or Bradshaw not playing, so why do we have a thread slagging off one of our players?

I wouldn’t say anything on here’s really slagging him off, just people saying they don’t rate him.

If there’s people sending tweets directly to him & things like that then that’s out of order but nothing wrong with people giving their honest opinions on a forum about players.

The Hourihane & Scowen references were more about their dedication.

Hourihane was getting by on long range goals & set pieces, he adapted his game & became an all round quality midfielder.

When Scowen couldn’t get a start due to Hourihane / Brownhill & Hourihane / Morsy he never sulked, he’d play out of position for the team, no requests for a loan anywhere like Moncur.

We’re still waiting on Moncur to get himself fit for 90 minutes, we’ve had sound bites from him saying he was going to but it’s never happened. It can be done, I’m sure we all remember Jacob Butterfield been overweight & not been able to do 90 minutes well & he went away over the summer & came back a lot leaner & ended up been our key player.

Moncur has ability to be better than he is which is why people get frustrated with him

Don't know where I fit on this as I don't rate but I really want him to succeed. I think he is so close to being a game changing player for us but it just never seems to come.
Very much looks like someone who needs a team building around him as he doesn't seem to be able to play in a 2 in the middle so you have to find room for him.
What i will say after yesterday is he put a lot more running in than I have ever seen from him before.

I thought he played for 90 minutes yesterday and didn’t have a bad game. Wasn’t there but listened to the commentary and watched the extended highlights and he seemed involved the whole game. It was hardly his fault we didn’t win

Hope he did. I’m the same as you, only listened & seen highlights.
