    It totally spoiled it for those who had turned up to,hear the music. Just a high pitched prolonged
    scream, with girls dropping down in a dead faint. It was surreal. It really used to get John Lennon
    worked up. He would often stop the band and plead with the girls who were screaming to stop so
    that the punters could enjoy the songs.

    Paul McCartney did a secret free gig at the Cavern the other week and apparently had a go at people in the crowd who had their phones out.

    In the early days, Nirvana were managed (at least in the UK) by Anton, who was originally from Barnsley.

    The guy who forgot about the gig dropped out of uni not long after. He was not known for his efforts! :)

    This may be controversial to some but on some recent performances I have seen of Paul McCartney his voice is certainly showing its age.

    Roger Daltrey is another.

    I very saw them play an official gig. I saw them busk on Leeds Uni Refectory steps. I was lucky enough to meet Mr Strummer an an in-store gig at Virgin Megastore in Leeds with the Mescelaros

    I've been Scoff since about 1978 after eating 5-6 deserts at school. I was maybe 7 at the time :)

    And the surname is Schofield, so its quite common.

    Scrub that. Forgot about Specials at Leeds in 2009. Absolutely belting concert and very funny when Terry Hall said something like "Hello leeds, thanks for Cantona!"

    The Specials played the Civic in August 1979 about the time Gangsters came out. They played their entire set and then started again with Monkey Man. In the end the management turned the electricity off but they carried on anyway with just drums and Terry Hall shouting.

    I don't think it's controversial, I think it's true. The bloke has been performing on and off for the best party of 60 years. And he's been singing the outro to Hey June for 50, so it's understandable!
