Good morning all And what a splendid morning it is too. The sparrows are tweeting, the dew is sitting precariously on the grass and I am just sitting here in the orangery sipping a wonderful Colombian grade 4 coffee that I purchased from the barista down the road last Tuesday, marvelling at the world and excited about the day ahead. I expect us to win by 4 or 5 clear goals today and I long for such an pleasurable performance that was gifted to us against Bradford and Oxford City. Anyway I digress, I would like to propose that the club consider a wine, cheese and olive tasting session one afternoon at Oakwell. I consider that this could be a real success. I think this is something that would really appeal to large sections of the Oakwell faithful, particularly supporters in the East stand and some sections of the Pontefract Road End. I often witness people eating Olives and Cheese in their pack ups at half time, and at Scunthorpe away half way through the second half I got talking to a fellow from Darton who said he is a keen sommelier and wine buff. Similar to the beer festival it could take place on a Saturday but probably post match would be much wiser, to give time for the cheese to breathe. Anyway it’s just an idea for the senior management. Have a wonderful day and enjoyable weekend. George Spicer
Cheeky swine. I know what an olive is. It's that woman with the big specs off 'On The Buses'. So there!!
On the contrary dear chap, I enjoy both black and green olives with a glass of chilled Rioja as an aperitif before dinner. I also sit in East Stand Lower. One of the items on my list of things to do is to visit an olive grove in Spain where they grow the pimiento variety.
A guy in front of us in th e East Stand Upper does actually get out one of those vacuum packs of olives and eats them during the match. Could be George.
George, I only drink wine. I find olives like salty dogs knackers, not that I have tasted dogs gonads, my pooch is a bitch so it’s not available. Cheese isn’t my thing either, so I’ll just go for the wine. My mate Bruce has just come across a shipment of Columbian Red Wine, with a street value of 1,000,000,000 columbian pesos, or £36 in the UK. He only wants 40 quid for the lot.
A wonderful idea George, one I'm fully behind. Imagine the aromas of a good Comte, Gorgonzola and perhaps even a tangy Roquefort filling our spiritual home after another successful match day! The spirit shivers with delight at the thought. On a separate note, George, have you ever been inside a Turkish prison?
I find it staggering that Twitter are allowing sparrows on their site. Slightly miffed. De-activated my Account some time ago and all attempts to re-instate have failed thus far. Talk about giving one the bird.!
that's probably the difference, I'm thinking George likes a slightly salty tang in his mouth occasionally. In fact I'm wondering if we should put him forward for Bake Off or some other cooking programme? I only suggested the former because I think I once heard somebody say his plums are legendary.
