Having watched the match yesterday from the unfamiliar sorroundings of the family stand (as I normally sit in ponte) I noticed that during the first half the formation we played seemed to be 4-2-3-1 with mowatt and dougall playing Central and Thiam pots n moncur behind big keefe. To which we absolutely battered them for a good half hour attacking style players were all over the pitch and defenders didn't know who to mark and the likes.. It was joyous to watch.
Now with this being his (stendel) inhereted team I'm just wondering how the new players and old ones who are or have been injured may fit in to this style potentially I can see a opening for 2 players in the 3 behind big keefe to be rotated can't see mowatt n dougall losing out and the back four is what it is 2 ball playing big centre halves winning everything in the air playing out to 2 central and then forward. 2 full back bombing up to make it almost a 2-2-5-1. Just wondered if anyone can see something other than what I think as on the first half display it may take some getting into the match team for any newbies. But really all I can say is you beautiful playing reds. Glad it's not my job to pick the team in a month or so.

I think any new or returning player will need to fight hard to get into the team. What they will do is hopefully give us more threatening substitutes.

My concern would be if either full back got injured or we need to replace one or both of Mowatt and Dougall. We may find out what the cover is like on Tuesday & I hope those who get a chance will make a real claim for a place going forward.

I'm loving stendel and his knowledge and application so far....his technical know how is first rate.
Am I right in saying Douglas will miss the Walsall match? it will be very interesting to see how we cope. Thought the gills were direct and physical....the saddlers are a footballing team...possibly another formation...especially if Woodrow us available.
Loving it so far....nearly 25 shots on goal every week....most in the division by a street mile...and some very confident and excellent football.

Agreed I think that potentially brown would be a good cover for wing back saw a bit when he came on at scunny pacey and can put a cross in. Midfield think potts could drop back to cover either mowatt or dougall if any goes missing for a game, and I really think mcgeehan would come on leaps and bounds if he played in attacking 3 behind keefe as he then has cover behind him if any mistakes occur and this will help him with regards to building confidence. But as I say good job I'm not managing them you reds

I don't think we need much else yesterdays first half performance was one of the best ive ever seen at Oakwell
they just didn't know what to do or how to do it. Don't get me wrong the Gills were a poor team but we were superb

Potentially without Potts and Dougall for next week, so I guess we'll find out then. Brown and Bahre may come in, Mcgeehan still doesn't look fit, got a backside the size of Manhattan
