Could apply that logic to everything... does anyone really need a replica shirt, or match day programme. I think the point is is that it is a revenue stream for the club which currently is failing badly.

Missed Winnal's goal in play off semi cos young lad had asked for a drink at half time. Thing is it ought to be really easy to solve. They have all the info they require.
They know how many they normally sell on a match day,
they know what type of drinks they sell on a match day.
Just have a bunch of drinks ready to go at half time. Its not rocket science.

They could even allow people to order & pre pay before the match and give a ticket. That's before we even start thinking of moving into the 21st century and allow people to order and pay via an app.

You get snooker tables on the concourse and you still moan?

It's very easy to solve. Take your own food and drink in. We do it every game. No one ever searches your bags. Why people moan that they're not allowed to buy overpriced crap is beyond me. Be grateful they're so badly run and take your own stuff in and save time and money.

I get princes point. IF the service was **** on not an issue. (Agree with the comments pints lined up.)But invariably it’s crap at most grounds. ( I like a pint missen but will not queue up 10 mins before 1st half finishes or be prepared to miss start of second ) once went to etihad to see u2. My round. completely missed support act . 1.5 feckin hrs. Service when got to counter was unbelievable. Only saving grace was they couldn’t add up. Only paid for 3 out of 5 pints. Would normally point it out.(kinda guy I am) but thought **** it on this occasion I’d only be holding queue up if I did.:)

I had to take my hotdog back on Saturday at half time because the bread was mouldy. I saw the funny side of it to be honest and they gave me another one. And I did enjoy being able to get a beer in the west stand.

Saw an old bloke who was in Redfearn's pre-match putting away a mostly drunk bottle of whisky as he staggered out of the ground.

I have a very slow metabolism. It's the curry I had the night before that you need to worry about.

See its doable and whilst they say you can pick up at half time, you should be able to order for any time you want. So if you want a pie at half three you can pop down for it and be back to your seat in a minute or two.

It's even possible without an app to put us in the 21st century if they allowed people on arrival to the concourse, go order pre game to pick up at a set time of your choosing later.

This is what I have done for years. Now and then I indulge in an over priced coffee or pie but it’s a rarity. I understand the club revenue argument - of course I do - but it’s not for me. It takes too long to get down to the concourse anyway. I understand the difficulty if you have needy kids but my main point was that everyone KNOWS that half time is only 15 minutes so what’s the point in missing that 45th or 50th minute screamer from big Kieffer just so you can get a pint of beer? It’s pointless, just like these people at Wembley who leave swathes of empty seats in the middle of a match just to indulge in the hospitality.

I’m there for the match and nothing else counts.

went to watch Cardiff Vs Arsenal yesterday and Vs Newcastle a couple of weeks back. They have 3 bars a couple of food bars and even a gin bar in the concourse of the Canton stand (that's their Ponty if you like). The beer bars do exactly as you say in your post . Pints pre-pulled and two tills operating on each of the 3 beer bars, while others passed the ale to the customers.
Very fast very efficient. They also have several large screen TVs on the go so you watch the on going game and miss nothing of the live action too
As you say its not rocket science.

Bloke sat two seats away from me in Ponte (don't know him), went for a pint when we got the Penalty (he didn't even wait for Moore to score). He came back for the start of the 2nd half. That must be at least 30 minutes. I'm sorry but I like a pint but no way am I going to miss 15 minutes of the game, and miss a penalty. It might be another 2 and a half years before we get another one....

The first couple of months of last season there was a pre order facility in the Lower East Stand concourse it worked brilliantly but then, with no explanation it was withdrawn.

Can’t comment on this season but it’s been shambolic for a number of years. You want a cuppa at half time when it’s freezing in the winter & honestly if you leave your seat bang on the half time whistle going to get in the queue then I’d say 50% of the time you’ll miss some of the second half.

Most of the time last season it was 2 or 3 lasses serving all one side of the East Upper who were about 16/17 & half of the time didn’t seem to know what they were doing, taking an age to work out what change was needed, which pie was which, not enough stirrers for the hot drinks, running out of popular drinks like Pepsi & tango but then having loads of water & 7up. I know a lot of it’s not there fault, averaging one shift every 10 to 14 days doesn’t make it easy but it still should be right.

It’s easy to make lazy comments like ‘eat before or after’ but for many it’s part of the match day routine. Might seem daft to us but many kids probably enjoy a hot dog & drink ad much as we do the football. Stuff like that needs to be better organised. Hopefully it’s getting sorted.

I’ve been in plenty of other grounds both home & away & never had to queue as long, it’s definitely an issue at Oakwell

If the club are willing to invest, the technology is there to pull alcohol stupidly quick. I saw a documentary on the building of the new Wembley years ago, and they have beer dispensers that can pour (i think it was) 8 pints at a time, and it only took about 10 seconds. Their plan was to have someone just constantly pouring the 8 pints batch after batch, and the staff that was taking the money would just turn and take them as they were ordered(very much like McDonalds do with their burgers).

Again though, it is al down to the board to determine if the initial outlay is worth it against the income it would genreate...

Bit weird people giving lectures out here. If someone wants a pint at half time then they're allowed to and they should be able to have one without queueing for twenty minutes.

It's personal choice. If you want a pint have one, if you don't then don't. But if you don't want a half time pint then don't be sanctimonious and start brow beating the people who fancy it.

The issue is the shocking service that stops people having a pint or a pie.
