Bradford City have parted company with head coach Michael Collins. Collins departs with immediate effect and his successor will be revealed tomorrow. Chairman Edin Rahic said: “Stefan (Rupp) and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael for the work he has done for the club. “The decision is based on an unsatisfactory start to the season and performances not being good enough. We anticipated a much better start and the results have not matched expectations. “We have acted swiftly to appoint a new head coach who we believe will take us towards achieving our goals this season and beyond. “We care massively about this football club and believe this decision has been made at the right time, with everything very much to play for. “We are now looking forward to naming our new head coach and moving forward, together, in a positive manner.” City’s new head coach will be unveiled tomorrow and will meet with members of the media, on Thursday, alongside chairman Edin Rahic. Bizzare after a month and the turnover of players they have had
Wouldn't be surprised at all. With it being that quick, it's definitely either an inside job or a free agent.
I had a season ticket at Bradford when A were nine year old. At school, we used to play the older lads. They'd be Leeds, we'd always be Bradford, and A would get the smoke kicked out of me.
Has Gary Bowyer the former Blacky lasher entered the list, and what about Fergiescum Jnr these days ?. Heckywho would be my guess though, and Im sure if its him we'll give him a great reception when we play them in the Crappatrade Trophy thingy.
It makes a change for a club to sack their manager soon after we’ve played them rather than just before we’re due to play them as is the usual case. Or at least it seems that way to me!
Its interesting Heckingbottom is still without a club. Obviously he massively benefitted from a pay off and a big rise at dirty Leeds, but I would've thought he'd still have decent stock to have gotten the jobs at Scunthorpe or Bradford. Maybe he's holding out for a championship job, or maybe he's just not as attractive proposition as may be assumed.
Possible, though he was strongly linked to Scunthorpe by Sky who seem to bang his managerial drum quite loudly, I'd be surprised if they weren't aware of his situation.
Wonder what Hecky's state of mind is at the moment? The Scunny job would have been a massive turnaround in fortunes for him in just a few months. From Oakwell with new backers and more cash plus decent crowds, to a proper lower div club after having his CV trashed at Leeds. Thought Bradford would be a decent return - but really can't see a Championship club taking a punt. Careful what you wish for might be the moral of this story.
