my prescription has not altered over the last 5 years . I was also informed that my eyesight meets the legal requirement WITHOUT my glasses. I find a slight improvement with them when driving but not by much. Oh and FYI I have measured our back gardens length , its 38 meters... I have a number plate from my old trailer I can read that easily at that distance. Its clarity is marginally improved with glasses.

A woman once said to me she had decided to get her eyes tested as she was struggling to read road signs, turns out she meant the big blue fkrs on motorways, true story.

    Not even close to comparable.

It’s more comparable to making sure your tyres are pumped up and not bald

To be honest, there’s only 1 or 2 police cars operating in the borough at any one time.... and they are stretched beyond belief. Mr Magoo could get away with driving ‘round here without being stopped.

Don’t know why you’re taking it personal?

Nobody suggested that you would get stopped, that your eyes weren’t good enough or anything like that.

You just went on the defensive immediately

I do not know if it is part of the driving test today but when I took my test in 1972 , the very first thing you had to do was a read a number p[ate form a vehicle approx 20 yards away , it was the first thing the examiner tested you on before you got behind the wheel to proceed with the driving & at the end of the test you were asked questions on the highway code .

you have the theory test now. much harder than the highway code questions at the end. I passed mine under the old system, but I had to do a theory test when I went to Germany with the RAF. It not only involved highway code but also some basic first aid and vehicle breakdown/ maintenance questions too.

Laughing at the idea of you measuring your back garden then squinting at an old numberplate. Your neighbours must think you're crackers.

I took my motorbike test years ago, as I was turning into the test centre I realised that for some reason I had forgotten to put my glasses on. There was four cars parked up so I decided to memorise one of the numbers. When we came out luckily the examiner asked me to read out the car that I had memorised. I blurted out the number with out even looking up!

You want cyclists to have their driving licences revoked?

Nobody has had a dig at his eyesight, though!

He made a very stupid comment about suing the police if they stopped him, he rightly got jumped on for such a statement.

Nobody has done anything differently to what you did in your reply to his cyclist comment.

Somebody started a poll last week about attending matches. He took that as personal insult.

I faintly remembered this, so went back to try and find it to have a look.

Turns out it was from over a month ago.

I swear time is moving faster these days...
