Tricky for Hecky - you don’t want to be out of the game too long, otherwise you become the forgotten man. Conversely, you don’t want to rush into a job where it’s maybe not a good fit or the board are too trigger happy. Bradford maybe a bit unsettled at board level. I thought Scunny might have been ideal - but perhaps a too big a step backwards in terms of funding and facilities. Time will tell - he’ll not be sat doing nothing though.
We’ll probably never know. Maybe Scunny were considering stumping up to release him and decided to go for the cheaper option instead. We can only speculate
It's going to be 50/50 for Hecky now I reckon. Inherited a great squad from Wilson and Johnson and did well until they all buggered off to other clubs. Leeds gave him a similar opportunity, decent squad, had been well placed, but he never really got them going. His next job will likely be league 1 or two, and he won't inherit a standout squad or budget. It'll be up to him to manage what he's got, but just like at Leeds, he won't be "one of their own", and they won't want to listen to his passing the buck to those above him. Neither will they still be singing his name when he's losing games for fun. He's two dream jobs. One managing his hometown club, and the other getting really well paid at a big club. Now it's reality time.
Soz, but who are you ?. So you don't know who the Lashers are, and who Fergiescum Jnr is, and the fact that we're playing Bradford in this daft cup this season (although scratch that anyway, they aren't giving the job to Hecky after all!). Move along everybody, theres nothing to see here lol.
Just been looking at our managers over the years. 15 spanned our first 80 years. 31 over the last 40 years. Crazy how football has changed.
