I think Jared Bird is the man to replace Dougall while King Kenny is on international duty. Played really well tonight and looks miles ahead of McGeehan who has looked.. flat. I like the look of Bird. Very tidy.
there you go... I was just thinking that Mike Bahre was the logical starter. (you may be our leader but I gotta go my own way on this one)... anyhow Hi-ho off to work I go...
Just mentioned this on another thread. Got to be bird for me. Countless interceptions and rarely lost possession. Struggling to determine what McGeehan's strengths are. Doesn't seem to possess pace, can't pick a pass, mis-times tackles and has looked poor in front of goal tonight.
Bird straight swap for Dougall. Potts put where Dougall plays and have Bahre or Isgrove where Potts usually is. Dare I say it we have options for missing players.
If he fancies not tinkering too much with the formation then Jared Bird straight in for Dougall and that’ll be that. If he wants more physicality in the middle then maybe he would go for Potts in the middle and Bahre on the wing. Easy stuff 5-0 si thi
I'd thought Bird could be an option, based on seeing him a year ago. Seen bugger all since. If anyone can get these young lads playing I believe DS is the man. Well done to the Reds this evening. Daniel Stendell's Red and White Army.
Yes it’s looking good all round and the policy of playing the type of football DS wants all through the setup seems to be paying off. Most of U23s were in first team action tonight and did an excellent job and likewise the youngsters who took their place at Palace yesterday. According to reports they played mesmerising football first half but couldn’t get the goal they deserved and apparently heads dropped a bit in second but I’m sure Martin will get them fired up again . Things are looking good throughout the club and may it long continue
I think he was presenting two different options with the comment that we're blessed with depth and options.
Bird played well against Bristol City in 2016 as well. He's clearly got something going but this is the crucial point in his career where he needs games. I think the lad needs more of a chance in men,s football. Yeovil seems to have done him the world of good, maybe he can get a loan to a L1 side in January because as good as he might be I don't think he will be knocking Dougall out the 11.
In all honesty hard to tell anything from a game played against a second string Oldham team. Bird played well the standard of the game and opposition was poor.
The voice of reason. Fair play, I wasn't there. I liked what I saw of Bird early last season. McGeehan on the other hand looks like the worst version of Brendan O'Connell, a headless chicken caught in the headlights. I hope to Ronnie he improves.
In his interview after the game Stendel said 4 players have shown him that they can play on saturday, im guessing Bahre, Bird, Walton and Brown?
On that showing - let’s hope that first team players don’t get injured !!! We have a weak and surprisingly unfit second team. Bird looking good tho.
