    Best atmosphere ever at Oakwell?

Henry Winter (journalist) stated that the best atmosphere he witnessed in the 2007 2008 season was at
    Oakwell .
    Barnsley v. Chelsea .

After seeing that film last night I still don't think the Bradford game can be beaten.

    Thank you for posting this.

Just watched it through and it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

What a night, what a ground (the old tunnel, the rammed terraces and Brewery stand), what a strip, what a team, what a goal and what an atmosphere, not to mention the result! Rushing home to watch it on Sportsnight.

I was there on the south terrace, 11 years old with my dad, packed in like sardines, just like the Liverpool second leg when we lost 3-1.

But for atmosphere I cannot recall anything on a par save perhaps the promotion game against Bradford .

    Wonderful memories.

The blonde haired kid next to the dugout on 18:59 mins as Hunter walks up the tunnel is me! Happy memories.

I'd say possibly the best atmosphere. It's subjective but my memory of Bradford is of jangling nerves most of the game followed by relief. Man City was of a building crescendo then an explosion of euphoria when we scored.
It's all affected by your memory and mood at the time though. And 1981 is a LONG time ago!

Barnsley vs Chelsea has had a few good ones. 4-0 in 1989 too.

I was shoehorned into the Ponty, right behind and just above the goal. The surge forward when the goal went in - just wow....

Stood on the paddock that night on the half way line , crammed in like sardines , what a night & what a performance , it was a fantastic night. I would also say that I wish we still had that kit now , loved it . Happy days !

I wasn't seeing things ,37 years later, mick McCarthy did give a gesture to say he did not think Kevin reeves, who had just been bought for 1.25 million, massive money back then, was not very good, around 13 minutes 20 after macca had got a free kick off him, remember way back then thinking how sportsnight let that in , lol good old macca

    Oh what a night!
I remember the Brighton game in the previous round but can anyone provide any reminders for the game before when we beat Swansea apparently ?
