    Obviously brilliant.
Liverpool game gets worse with time.
Ashley Ward gets better with time
What's going on with Hendrie's eyes?
Fjortoft wins it with comment of the night for me (won't say which)
Proud to support this club and no other (my Sheffield-born daughter's words, not mine).

Had forgotten Willard actually left the pitch when the game was going on.

Me too. Just shows how badly he'd lost the plot. Did he just carry on reffing after that game?

That journalist Gibbs? Was responsible for everything good that happened to Barnsley F.C. in the last 100 year apparently.

I liked the emotions it fetched up for the people who were old enough to have enjoyed the two seasons that were featured in the movie. I also particularly liked the coverage at the start of the film about the miners strike and how it directly affected the town and Barnsley F.C.

It raised a few questions in my head and probably a few heads of other people of a similar age who were alive but just too young to appreciate the significance of April 26th 1997. One of those questions being will we ever achieve it again? Will we ever see premier league football back at Oakwell again?

Also you’ve got to think Wards had some Botox done or something along those lines? Nobody ages that well surely?

Alan Biggs ? “No need to thank me but I brought Hendrix to Oakwell”?! Aye, he did come across that way a bit...

And yes I think Ashley Ward has had a hair transplant and given his Mrs is on some daft reality show he probably has had a nip and tuck himself.

The Liverpool game was easily the most surreal match I've ever been to. Completely and utterly bizarre.

He left the pitch after being threatened by an " interloper" and was found cowering in the toilets
under the Stand before being coaxed back to resume the game apparently. He carried on reffing for
a further 14 months after the Liverpool debacle before citing " personal reasons" for his decision
not to officiate at any further Premiership games. He reverted back to his previous employment
as an Inspector for HM Revenue and Customs ( sounds about right) and is now aged 58 and resides
in Worthing Sussex. Absolutely reviled for the way he refereed that game and totally spoiled what appeared
to be a very hard encounter between two teams who wanted to win. I believe that was the start of our eventual
demise. We lost Stumpy, Barny and Morgan to suspension and so between March and the last game against
Leicester away, our task was made doubly difficult to get the points we needed to stay up.

Not only did we lose 3 players through suspension, it just knocked the stuffing out of us. I've never left a game feeling so angry and utterly cheated. It didn't just feel like one man was trying everything he could to stop us staying in that league, it felt like the whole establishment wanted rid of us, maybe irrational, maybe not. But then when we saw the dreadful last minute penalty for Coventry from one of the worst dives I've seen from Dion Dublin, Shearer climbing all over our defender to head a late winner at St James', the unlucky late own goal at Leeds, the late winner at Blackburn, the injustice of Vega's cynical foul that saw him red carded, but ultimately his efforts were successful as they held on to draw.

We just took too many punches, most of them below the belt.

Like when I managed to lure the dirty temp back to mine after a work do, only to find that my solitary johnny had passed the bonk-by date.

I must admit it was nearly as disappointing as missing out on the screening of Daydream Believer! Will be ordering the DVD!

Only had myself to blame, primarily for having failed miserably to use it earlier and then replace it! I did have quite a bad haircut at the time to be fair though. And a hairy back.

At least you didn't do the deed. I know folk who's idea of safe sex is to lie and tell the "lucky" woman they have had the snip...

The Liverpool match was, without doubt, the strangest game I'd ever been to then and that is still the case. Couple of reasons made it all the worse for me. I knew the steward who recommended to Willard that he leave the pitch. It wasn't Willards idea; he was told to leave for his own safety and apparently was "flabbergasted" by that suggestion. Apparently he had absolutely no idea at all about what the fuss was, genuinely too.

Secondly, the chap who usually sits next to me was away on hols and my mate [a plastic Liverpool fan] had borrowed his ticket - so both he and I were acutely aware of the ill feeling. He said to me at the time that he'd never experienced an atmosphere like it anywhere.

We all like to tell ourselves that we might have stayed up if it hadn't been for that game. I have no idea, but we were robbed, absolutely plainly and simply in what was the worst display of "refereeing" in the 31 years I've followed football.
