I have been reading this morning that the club have been active in offering new contracts to players whose contracts are due to expire next year , this is good news & hopefully we have learnt from our past mistakes . I do not believe that every player will instantly sign, but trying to sort out deals early at least buys the club some negotiating time especially if we continue to have a good season then some of these players will be wanted by other clubs .
Article is here for anyone that hasnt seen it: https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...ht-napping-over-contracts-this-time-1-9338311 I was just about to create a thread myself about this but you beat me to it. Really good news that they have seen the issue it caused it last time and that they are working to ensure it does not happen again.
Would be a huge boost is Mowatt and Cavare signed up to longer deals. Can imagine clubs circling for both in January. Cavare in particular, but at least we have a 12 month option on his.
Hopefully mowatt will sign a new deal local lad and all that and hopefully help us back to the championship. Cavare will attract interest if he carrys on how he has started the season, and still some supporters think he is crap and can't wait to knock him. If I was him wouldn't be surprised if he leaves can't do no right for some folk
I think many fans' opinion on Cavare is clouded by his red card vs Fulham, he wasn't our worst player by a distance last season but still took a lot of flack. He's been fantastic so far this season he just needs to keep his head on for the rest of the season.
That's interesting isn't it? Normally when you've got a good player who has a short fuse, they're cult heroes to supporters. I've always considered him a good player, but he's easy to rattle. Imagine there's a load of old pros who could play him like a fiddle.
And to be fair, johansen should have already had his marching orders for two footing Mallen and effectively putting him out of the game. We’d have won the game we were well on top of and those points would have kept us up. I’d have then been correct with my staying up optimism so really the weak, bent ref owes me an apology.
To be fair he has only lost the plot once v Fulham and he was having a good game before that. It's abit like me saying mowatt is a liability as he was sent off on his debut v wolves for a horror tackle.
He's been in the process of getting involved a couple of times this season and someone has stepped in to diffuse the situation.
New deals have been offered to Davies, Jackson, Cavare, Moncur, Mowatt and Hedges. GG says in today's Chronicle " we want to sign them, but if we can't, then we may have to make a decision in January. " He goes on to say that he believes Cauley Woodrow who signs permanently in January is an improvement on Bradshaw and will be a better partner for Keiffer Moore.
I want to marry Dimitri or at least have a dirty shag outside whispers with him. Definitely a fans favourite.
Surprised at three of those at least. The good games Mowatt has had for us is in single figures and all took place outside of the championship, so when we get back promoted we don't know if his decent start to this season is it. Moncur is in his third season with us and still struggles when starting a game and doesn't score are often as he did at Colchester. Hedges is injury prone and had a few major lay offs so it's not like his latest one is a rarity. Davies might get more money as a back up at a championship club, Jackson doesn't like being out of the team so could leave for regular games and Cavare probably has sides in his home country scouting him for a return.
I like Cavare but of course there’ll be fans who aren’t keen, he joined & then spent 4 months injured, came back & needlessly got himself sent off when we were playing the best half of football we played all last season costing us vital points & then (rightfully) ended up behind Yiadom in the pecking order. He basically had a season with us & took a wage for impacting the team negatively.
