Specticalistist - noun; an individual who dislikes a person or persons who dislikes a person or persons who wear vision improving eyewear.

I just had a vision of some young youthie with NHS specs, patched up with a sticking plaster, spouting his ***** on his employers Twittery thing.
No offence meant to the glasses wearers. Truth be told, I need em myself, but when I went to Specsavers, you'll never guess who I bumped into...
    Everyone!!!

    That’s not how this works.

If you allow someone to run your social media, you are doing so with the knowledge that they are speaking FOR your company.

So by this reasoning every time an employee does something not agreeable that whole company and all their employees should be tarnished with the same stigma.
**** me you don’t even know if it’s a genuine account or if it’s been hacked.

He's right. It's not just a "Jimmy from accounts" account where they can give it the old "these are the views of the individual and do not represent the views of the company" line. It's a company facing, Garden Sheds UK account so anything posted from it should be taken as the view of the company.

*If it is indeed an official account. If it isn't then I expect the company will be taking legal action against whoever is controlling it, as I can imagine the comment will have a hugely negative effect on the image of the company...

That account is not an employee saying something on their own account that the company doesn’t agree with, it’s for all intents and purposes the company speaking.

Agree with all that, my point is the company could issue a statement saying not our views and deal with the individual accordingly but instead of waiting to find this out people are jumping on the ban them bandwagon.
If it turns out the views do represent the company then I would agree

    So what happens if
So if it turns out the person wasn’t speaking for the company but abusing their position of trust?

Guys- Dieter is a mate of mine and had no idea about this until i sent it to him. Hes absolutely gutted whats happened. I dont want to say too much as i may get things wrong but hes requested an account on here so he can post in response.

In a nutshell its either an ex employee or current employee whos phone has the account enabled and they are trying to find out who. Its not their social Media company either so please dont go on a witch hunt casting accusations.

Dieter will post as soon as he gets access so if any admins can look at the account requests?

Thought we might have got a statement from the club, even just something about being aware about it and looking in to it.

To be honest, it doesn’t really make a difference. It’s still ‘the company’ speaking.

Technically the company is speaking at this point, but my original post was about people jumping to conclusions and saying about banning the company when they may not have done something wrong. You’re saying it doesn’t matter if the company turn out to be innocent all fans and the club should ban ever using them again.

Firstly may I introduce myself I’m Dieter Droger the managing director of Garden Shed Uk based in Wath Upon Dearne, a passionate Barnsley fan, player Sponsor sports lover and above all a genuine passion to help others less privileged than ourselves Whether that be through helping local sporting groups (we fully sponsor Hoyland Common Falcons from toddlers right upto u16) or charities such as Cystic Fibrosys or Ride for Charlie.

It was brought to my attention yesterday at 11AM that Garden Shed Uk had left a social media comment on a Ex players Instagram page, which had used disrespectful, harmful and vile language against members of the Barnsley F.C board. From the information we have gathered this message was left at some point last week and had been available for others to see for days until we were alerted via a message on social media, before this alert we have been totally unaware of any message or use of Instagram in our business as this is NOT a platform that we either use nor are accustomed to.
Our social media was started 3 years ago with all forms of platforms opened if we so wished to use, Twitter,Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, these were all opened to spread our advertising and media coverage from using st our Facebook page.

As a company we operate that Employess are able to upload images/text and respond to request via their company mobiles as we operate a no boundaries approach to our staff and fully trust that this position will not be abused as it’s worked so well for over 3 years, our staff members have never put our brand nor our identity at risk in the past and we pride ourselves locally with our reviews and recommendations that far excel anyone else’s. We follow Barnsley at home and away and help the club wherever we possibly can.

Internally we have had an investigation into where this message was generated from or by whom and now have a clear and concise account of the actions.

We are unable to name due to legal reasons the exact person whom created this message via our platform and from investigation have since found out that this is not the only time our social media has been put into jeopardy unbeknown to us.

An employess son has used their parents mobile phone after having their own phone confiscated, using not only Instagram but also Facebook. They have posted under Garden Shed Uk on thee separate occasions on 3 completely different items.

    1.Adam Hammil
    2.Timber supplier
    3.Car manufacturing company.

Unfortunately we had no alternative but to remove our social media accounts that had been used. Not only have we suffered emotionally but we are deeply upset that our brand has been tarnished and our link with the club but also our employee is deeply saddened at the events of the past 24hrs as the are currently managing home issues unrelated to this incident.

In the age of social media and the damaging affect it can have i would just like to place on record my sincere apologies firstly to Adam, the board and the fans as I have read the above comments and feel both upset and angry at the same time.

Kindest regards and best wishes to all fans, this incident even though very severe will not stop me personally from supporting the reds and helping wherever I can be it in a personal or company role.

But have you sacked the person? Sorry is good and you do a lot for the area, that nobody can doubt. But the only way to deal with this is to fire the person responsible for not protecting your company.

Unfortunately sacking a person who has taken all reasonable precautions to keep their mobile devise safe, has a exemplary record at work is a legal nightmare as we did not have written in our contracts social media use or training, this is on our part a mistake but something we didn’t have the foresight of ever happening. Again no excuses can be made and full blame does on that part have to lay with our employment specialists and we have already seeked advice as to what we can and can’t do on the matter.
We have with immediate effect removed all platforms from all devices/reconfigured all passwords where needed and above all offered our employee help if they so wish to take it with dealing with the matter.
    Many thanks
    Dieter
