Think he was wondering why our opponents can play their test player against us, but we can't play ours against our opponents. I wasn't aware of this either.
England players are contracted to England rather than Yorkshire. Threrefore th ECC decides who plays and who needs a break.
Which would you rather see. Every county being able to play their own starts in Championship cricket more often or the same players performing in a mind numbing succession of meaningless international pyjama cricket one day jamborees that have no relevance whatsoever? It's an easy choice for me.
International cricket over county cricket every day of the week for me, whatever the format. Tests is the ultimate, but there's nothing wrong with being a white ball specialist.
It's all subjective. For me I like sport to have context and meaning. There's a hundred and fifty years of first class county cricket to back up every championship game, same as there is in Test cricket. There's even room for one day cricket, the World Cup every four years etc. But these endless series of one dayers which have no relevance, no context, no meaning beyond a quick one day thrash that no one will remember in a month's time and move on for another slogfest somewhere else...not for me. As I say, all subjective.
Brooks knocks leg stump out of the ground and Maharaj is on his way back. Two more to get and Lancashire needing too many
All over. I predicted half an hour this morning but was ten minutes out. Brilliant win for Yorkshire. Superb bowling from Coad and Brooks.
It's an enforced rest for England players that play both one-day *and* Test cricket. If they only play one or the other, like Ali, then they can return for their counties. Rashid isn't rested and could play for Yorkshire if he wanted to/his contract allowed.
From Wombwell to Whitby. Great write http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/...csavers-county-championship-division-one-2018
After today's result it doesn't really matter. We've got a decent points lead over Lancshire and Worcestershire already and Worcester are likely to also lose today to Surrey. Could be all settled by the time we play Hampshire next week.
Not that many. Worcester can’t catch us even if they beat us and get 24 points into the bargain. If Lancs get a maximum 24 in their last game we need 11 points from our 2 games to send them down. We’re as good as safe. 4th or 5th place I reckon. When that happens a good look needs taking at how the club has been run this season. Just not been good enough
You’re right - I was getting giddy with the win this morning and didn’t look at the table properly. Worcester are away to Essex next so it’s hard to see them getting much there. The next round should settle things I reckon. Worcester and Lancs to go down
