    Yer don’t say Sherlock!!!

If at all possible - the board should have pushed the boat out regarding McBurnie.
A signing that would more or less guarantee promotion - and at an age where his value can only increase.
    So he ticks all boxes.

Fingers crossed Woodrow can fill that gap.

McBurnie is never a league 1 player. In absolute dreamland if you think we’d have ever been able to even tempt him.

Or pay his wages. He must be on at least £15k a week at Swansea

I think we should've pushed the boat out to bring Stones and Trippier back

No matter how much the Yorkshire Tykes pushed the boat out there is a little thing called SCMP

“I’ll always keep an eye on their results, I can’t speak highly enough of the staff, players and fans at Barnsley”

    Interviewed now on News Now.

As I said - if at all possible.

But all this negativity about keeping McBurnie at the club.
Let’s just roll things forward to the end of the season - and Barnsley actually achieve promotion.
    What happens then ???

Because as sure as eggs is eggs ...... we will need players of McBurnies ability at the club if we are to maintain our status in the Championship.

You are right, but I would very much doubt whether McBurnie would leave a Team with a very good chance of promotion back to the premier league on 15-20k a week to go to a team with a reasonable chance of staying up on half the wages.

You always seem to miss the glaringly obvious bits when you post stuff. I do find it rather funny.

Lets get up & then worry about it, promotion is not a given.

I'm disgusted that we never cloned Craig Hignett with a view to unleashing the year 2000 version of him.

These new owners have a business plan where a large part of it includes the development and then sale of young talent
(Hear last CEO interview where he lets that slip).

I think the Hammill situation is an indication of that business plan - he’s perceived to be too old.

McBurnie purchase and wages had a very low risk attached to it.
How much would he have cost us?
    Compared to:
How much will he be worth at the end of this season or next season ?

At a guess - I would say there was a player there that in two seasons time would have made the club c£10 million profit - and that’s excluding his contribution towards any promotion.

    Dus see ?
Not that funny is it ?

Out of interest how much do you think his wages would be to convince him to drop into the third division?

Glaringly missing the obvious is still funny even when you try to explain it.

    Thanks.
    Read it - see below.
As I said - if at all possible.
And it clearly is - so a McBurnie deal was an option.

    Part 3.

How, in a million years, were we going to persuade a young guy who'd just set the Championship alight with the most lucrative commodity of all, goals; who'd broken into his national team, to put his guaranteed forward career momentum back at least a year by signing for us?
    It's bonkers thinking. Absolutely bonkers.

Winkler has admitted in an interview in the Star that there's no chance of Hammill ever
returning to Barnsley as a player under DS's stewardship. As far as McBurnie is concerned,
he enjoyed his time with us, but we have absolutely no chance of signing him on permanent.
According to articles I've seen from North of the Border, if he leaves Swansea, if the deal is right,
its likely that he would consider a move to Glasgow Rangers.
