The online superstore is an embarrassment and together with the club shop needs to be reviewed in terms of content and appearance. In addition, the supply chain is poor with no or little communication on stock replenishment.

All goes to depend on how many adult season tickets there are?

I'll just take a simple guess at 6000..

As part of a season ticket incentive, offer an extra season long entry of say £5 into a seat draw for each home league match.

So for each home league match, draw at random upto 3 adult season ticket holders seat numbers and they win a season ticket for the following season.

Said 3 winning tickets per match based on 6000 adults taking up the offer and on the basis of a season ticket rounded up to £400. Based on those figures it would cost £27,600 for 69 season tickets at a cost of £27,600. With 6000 paying £5 for the season entry it's all covered taking £30,000 plus the £400 is a bit inflated for a ticket as well, especially if an OAP wins it.

Base the same on drawing 2 winning tickets per match.
At a £5 season entry for full price tickets at £400, would cost £18,400 so would need a minimum take up of 3680 season ticket holders.

Not much in it for the club but they lose no money by operating it and having a simple draw at half time.

But as a season ticket holder who likes a flutter, it would be a great little incentive for just short of 22p per match a chance to win a season ticket for the next season and like I say, it wouldn't put the club out of pocket either paying for itself.

1 win per entry only so if you were lucky enough to win one ticket, you would then be excluded from future draws.

I've excluded no adult tickets on the basis of the legalities of what is essentially gambling.

Also didn't include pay on the door customers as it ties in well for payment with the season ticket prior to the season kicking off. So it's harder to collect that entry money from pay on door fans along with the fact that for the draw purposes, it is easy just to include the known sold seats.

Plus for those that do like a flutter like me, it acts as a little benefit of being a season ticket holder..

 

Redfearns is an excellent pop-up bar, well run by volunteers, but is there any scope for a larger, purpose built facility run along the lines of a social club?

When there is a small away following for a Saturday fixture I think it would be a good idea to house them in the North end of the West Stand .
Then give free tickets to local schools for the North Stand .
It would mean installing toilet facilities for the away fans but it would be worth it a number of the children want to return to Oakwell .
Plus you would have refreshment sales and if pop up bfc souvenir stalls could make sales of smaller items .

Bit ***** puttin away fans there. Cud still put schools in haif of away end like has been done in the past.

 

Why do you care about away fans views no-one cares about ours when we go anywhere

 

He probably thinks of other clubs fans as fellow football fans rather than as the enemy.

 

How about free giveaways for say the first 50 / 100 early arrivals (pin badges, keyrings etc) to get people there early?

As fans leave the ground have stewards give them vouchers for discounts at the following match providing they are there early. e.g. a free pint providing it's more than an hour before ko, a free coffee with a pie up to an hour before ko etc

And how about a loyalty scheme - giving points which result in some form of reward (shirt for the following season etc). But with additional rewards for the behaviours that will help the club e.g. standard points for attending a big weekend game, more when it's a midweek game. And perhaps even more for getting into the ground early (say 2 hours before) and spending in the club shop, Redfearns, food outlets - this would require everything to be joined up so the club could track it. Although a lo-tech way of doing this could be via a loyalty stamp card approach.

And a couple for our young supporters:
- when it's a young season ticket holders birthday around the time of a home match, announce their name on the tannoy and:
- get them on the pitch prior to ko;
- let them watch the players up close during the warm up;
- award them a specially designed item of clothing not available for purchase in the club shop e.g. scarf, t-shirt etc
- give them a round of applause
Something like this would make them feel special, give them an experience they'd never forget and almost guarantee their support for life

Secondly, for new young supporters attending their first match (would need to think about how we'd identify it but perhaps new young season ticket holders) - again get them on the pitch and award them with a unique design 'cap' to welcome them as a Red.

You could ask them about the hole in the roof - East Stand Upper, right at the back (just about level with the penalty spot at the Ponte End side). I couldn't decide if it was a fault or a water feature. The rainwater was literally pouring down under the seats, all the way from the back of the stand to the front row. Mind you, it created a lovely effect - easily on a par with the cascade fountain at Chatsworth.

 

Tell them if they build a proper supporter's bar with decent ale and sky sports I promise I'll come in.

A day of live music has been a big thing in Barnsley for most of the past decade and is always rammed. Add a food and drink festival to it (always popular), make sure training gear and home replica stock is out that day and you could probably take six figures in takings during the course of a 12 hour day of events. Ponty car park for the stage and filled with picnic tables (sure a company would lend us some for some free advertising) with food and drink stalls scattered around. Get in touch with a fairground company to put some kids rides around the back of the east stand. Can still have open day in July to meet players, buy the new away kit etc. This day in June would be totally different and it would be good to have a big event on our vast land, during the off season so people can pop to Oakwell for an outdoor event every month of the year.

It would be a good excerise to have a sit down chat with the CEO.
But as I’m away at the moment - you could ask him this:

How does he perceive Barnsley in relation to other football league clubs - where does he see Barnsley in the pecking order - and in his opinion where will Barnsley be in 3 to 5 years time ?
