That haif time entertainment shooting through oyls in a blanket is another loser. Get back to crossbar challenge 10pts for hitting bar and 5pts for hitting a post, Stick a five a side net in front for little uns rather than em towing their bag art trying to lift ball oft grarnd to great heights.
We want kids to be attracted to the club, build a future community and get them there early. As such and focussed at kids why don't we have a club player card program. So every player including the U23's etc has a player card. Each kid under the age of X that attends a game gets 2 free cards. with random players. Sort of Pannini style but just oriented to the club players. Front player pic and back profile. Start of the season every kid is given a fixture poster with placeholders for each player plus some spare spaces. This can weave a thread through kids interest throughout the season, get them making swaps at the games or even at schools where other kids who don't attend would then be interested. Maybe use them when players go out to schools and hospitals to give out. Kids could make a big thing of the transfer window signings with the new cards drumming up some interest. This would connect them to the club and players, maybe have a few random autographed each game. The ideas to build on can run on and on season to season. Could even launch it with a large banner, player card style on the front of the building.
Social Club I know redfearns do a great job and the volunteers are fantastic. However places and space is limited and sometimes you need to have graduated from Colditz to get in (joke...maybe). However we could expand the principle. I think everyone would welcome a bigger and better, building on the traditional theme the Redfearns team have done. Keep it run or managed by 'fans', keep the community and charity spirit. Increase the pregame entertainment. The short talks from ex players are great and the TV games but what about maybe live music every once in a while, maybe a mini beer fest like this weekend in there a couple of times a month, try wheeltappers style with Bingo (oh I'm getting carried away here - another joke...maybe) But with more space, more investment I'm sure Redfearns could be a bigger success and serve a wider group of fans.
How about closing the east stand lower concourse from the elements so we don't freeze our nads off in the winter
Waiting so long for the ball to be returned to play isn't compatible with our style of play & we're getting less entertainment for our money. It's clear to see & needs sorting.
The benefit of Redfearn's Bar is that you don't need to have entered the ground to come in, so can have seats anywhere in the ground but use that as your pre-match base. Anything in the concourse area of any stand means you have to enter the ground and you're only catering for that stand. I'd say our attendances aren't high enough to have multiple 'Refearn's Bars' but would regularly fill a purpose built facility in the car park with capacity for 500. We had 270+ through the door for the Gillingham game but the capacity is 150.
If they finished the east stand mezzanine it would cater for a large bar which could be accessed from outside the stand. Essentially the same setup as you have now but with stairs. I think Gally Did ask the club how much it would cost but got no answer as they weren't interested in catering for supporters at the time. Could be worth asking again. As the actual structure is already there I would have thought it would be cheaper than building something
When are the external contracts up so that the club can start generating more matchday incime for themselves?
Wall off the lower bars in the east and put in seating, wouldn't cost the earth, I've seen it in other stadiums. It won't be big but better than what we've got open to the elements. Used for a quick pre-match and half time beer. Not really fussed about a purpose built Redfearns, we have a stadium built near the town centre - folk prefer that.
Nowhere decent to watch football in town though. If club had a decent bar with sky and BT and a bit of snap I'd go.
Do folk prefer that though? Considering the capacity we reach every game that would suggest there's demand for both. If we were talking about the days when Preedy's was taking £19 a game in just tea and coffee then I'd be inclined to agree with you.
Bars in town are busier on match day afternoons than they are at night. Would kill them if we moved to a new stadium on the outskirts of town.
Dint know they had Sky in White Bear. Not been in for a while but they didn't even have TVs in there.
Two main things from me: Ball boys need a rocket up their arse. Seriously though, can they have some training and can we have at least an answer as to why they are so bad and no improvements have been made despite it impacting so heavily on the game? We headhunted a manager from Germany to play fast football but we can't convince our own ballboys to pick a ball up quickly and return it to play. Club shop. Pretty much everything is wrong with it. Stock levels, type of stock, pictures of stock on website. Can it see some serious improvements in those areas?
Could home stand roofs be extended to where the gravel track is? Walsall game was a good example with home fans going down the gangways to watch under the stands or switching stands (west lower folk packing out the upper tier) whilst away fans stay nice and dry in the best stand we have.
Please could you ask if there are any plans to give the West Stand a bit of tlc. Bit of paint, remove that awful broken glass from the perimeter wall etc?
You actually think it's realistic to build new roofs which extend beyond their structural capacity on the stands?
