I don’t post in here much these days but what the ****. I need to vent.

I was so looking forward to today’s game. I met EI Addio for a pre match pint, the sun was shining, we were unbeaten and my Coventry mate hadn’t stopped telling me how poor they were, as I talked over him, excitedly telling him all about ‘gegenpress’.

We got to the ground, said our farewells as EI and I headed into the away end (crowded) and my Coventry mate went in the home end (sparse at best).

And then the game started and from minute zero we were ****. From the off we were second best in midfield, out gegenpressed by the boys in sky blue. They had the first chance and should have scored. They were poor. But not to worry, not with our rock solid, first names on the team sheet back four.

Look, I could go on, but we were ****. It was like a completely different side to the ones I’d seen in the last two games. We couldn’t string three passes together, players passed into empty spaces, they seemed ill tempered with each other, uncoordinated, ill disciplined, clueless if I’m honest.

Second half started better but ended worse. Coventry I would say deserved the win, we were that bad.

Lindsay, my hero, was poor. Dougall was very poor, Brown out of his depth, Moore lacking a cutting edge.

Ironically I hadn’t bought in to the Mowatt resurgence hype before today but he played OK, as did Thiam second half down the left, but no end product, really nothing at all. Nothing. It was like we’d gone back several wanky steps in our season in just 90 minutes.

The really worrying thing is we had no plan B. When Coventry out gegenpressed us we panicked. A bit like when AFC Wimbledon out defended us.

We must be smarter, more flexible, craftier, but we were none of those. These two teams were two divisions apart 6 months ago. I feel like I’ve been hoodwinked by our good start into believing we are better than we really are. We’re not, and I’m worried.

But to finish on a high, my sky blues pal was amazed at our fitness and high energy. It was like he watched a different game. He reckons we will go up.

    Football eh? Sheesh.

I think we just need to think we have got he majority of players that weren’t good enough last year and now we are praying for the best. Think we will end up mid table season.

Good following to a soulless ground, against a team we've a poor record against.

I agree with your coventry mate. I thought we played ok. Not brilliant, but we still still created enough to win the game.

Coventry had 2 shots on target and scored from a set piece.

Agree with most of what u say....I'll judge us more when we get our full compliment of players out.....we seem to have lost a bit of zest in our past 3 games though....I do have faith in this coach though and we will bounce back.
The lack of width...with good crosses and extremely poor corners do concern. Nothing that can't be put right.
